Wedding planner not responding?

Chang, on July 23, 2019 at 2:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hello! It’s our first post here and we are seeking suggestions/advices...We apologize for the lengthy explanation

So our wedding is on Aug.17 (less then a month!!) We hired this wedding planner + florist back in January. She has been fulfilling her responsibilities fine until Mid-June. From that point, suddenly she is not responding our emails, texts, nor picking up our calls. We have tried 50+ times trying to reach her but failed. Meanwhile her instagram is still posting....

Questions:

1. What should we do at this point to make the wedding go well? Should we hire somebody else?

2. We have paid the deposit (half of the amount). But the contract states the other half is due now (Jul.24). Should we pay to avoid a breach of contract?

3. Any other suggestions in this type of scenario?

We want to thank you all for any input!! We are both freaking out already...

Don't pay her until she calls you back. Feel free to leave a message telling her you won't be submitting your payments until she can prove she's providing the service of planner and respond to your inquires.

I agree with PP. I would not pay her the remaining money until she returns your messages.

Thank you Meghan. But should we seek a new planner 4 weeks before the wedding? We are both panicking...

I would start researching new planners, or at least DOCs. If you do not hear anything back from your current planner, I would move forward with hiring a new one. At 4 weeks out, you maybe fine not having a planner. I think a DOC would be sufficient. And many will meet with you beforehand to see exactly what you need and still attend your rehearsal.

I'd probably start hitting her up on social media to figure out what the heck is going on.

I agree with the idea of hitting her up on social media.
