I’ve been deciding on a wedding planner for months! Since I’m getting married on NYE it’s been a bit of a stress with covid and having our wedding on a holiday. A few planners I spoke with are $5700!! Way more than what I’m willing to pay considering I have already booked most of my vendors and I’am looking for more for day of coordinating. What’s are your thoughts on wedding planners vs planning yourself with help of friends and family?! tenor.gif

Details made simple is the company I am using. I am working with Jessica Raia. she's amazing! send them an email you won't regret it. that was my main concern. I am planning everything but I need someone to execute the day of since I can't be there. she is my point of contact everyone knows they call her for everything. she starts working 2 months out

I battled this in the beginning but decided to just do things myself. Our venue includes a day-of-coordinator and one of my friend's volunteered to be my assistant for about a month to make sure everything is done to my liking. I saved some money this way and like doing things on my own timeline versus someone else's.

I actually decided to not get a wedding planner because I had roughly a year & a half from when I got engaged to the wedding. I've booked everything except the Officiant and transportation & I still have about 9 months to do that. I think yes it can be a little stressful to do it on your own but if you have enough time its VERY DO-ABLE! I did however book a 30day coordinator to take over for the last month to finalize & verify everything & to obviously take care of my big day so that my family or myself don't have to worry about things.

Even though my coordinator was $1,800 its still cheaper than a Planner.

I did the same too! Our venue requires a coordinator and the wedding coordinator there will be our day of coordinator, it just makes it a lot easier. I’m currently looking into booking some of the vendors we need and our day of coordinator has been very helpful as well.

I would just hire a doc. Less money and more practical! My venue includes the doc so I'm doing everything myself beforehand.

I 100% agree with you. I feel as though I can handle most of the planning. We practically have 10 months still and have all many vendors booked except a few. I wanted to book the planner I spoke with for DOC and she was still $2400 that was starting 30 days before. I will have to continue looking. Thanks.

Yeah that's pretty ridiculous! In fact, most wedding planners and day of coordinators are ridiculous! Sometimes, I think it's the area in which you will have your wedding that drives the costs. I'd say keep searching for a day of coordinator....maybe outside of the immediate area in where you will have your wedding. You may find some luck. Albeit, my wedding isn't until next year, I found a day of coordinator that is more than reasonable. He has his usual rates, including a day of coordinator rate, but he also have a Covid-friendly rate that's for smaller wedding for parties of less than 50 ppl. You may want to see about that if you are having an intimate wedding.

I’m doing a “Day of the Event” planner, because I have covered 90% of my plans. Guest list is down to 50. I’ll see who RSVP’s from that amount. The other 150 are being virtually invited. Much less stress and I’ve spared expense.

Im on a budget so I would never consider having a wedding planner. If I was rich and could afford to do whatever I wanted then of course I'd have a wedding planner. My fiancé and me are doing everything ourselves.

I think a day of coordinator might be a much better option for you considering you have done a lot of the work you would be paying a wedding planner to do. So for that kind of money wouldn't you want every bang for your buck? There are wedding planners who have the option of day of coordinator.
