Wedding Planner!!

Xauddina, on January 3, 2022 at 11:49 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hi guys!! Happy new year!!! Sitting around planning & one thing that is consistently in the back of my mind is when to contact my wedding planner. We have a venue that is all-inclusive & provides a wedding planner. It is nice because we currently live outside the state we are getting married in, so it was a perfect choice for us.. We are 4/2023 wedding... When do you think I should ask to speak to the wedding planner? Should I get my ideas all written out & then speak to them? This website has helped out a bunch!!

All we have left to plan is the DJ, florist, officiant & photographer & videographer!! IS there anything else you all think I am missing???

I also just don't want to reach out too early to the wedding planner.. we have only been engaged for a little over a month now. Like should I have everything setup or I am suppose to go over those first thoughts with the wedding planner & go through the process with them? Or should I have everything finalized??

Hi there! First of all, congratulations on your engagement 😊
    1) Does your venue specify when you have access to your planner, or for how long? For example, our day-of-coordinator (so not a full service planner), is available to us 3 months before our wedding. The venue also outlined what their role is. So I’ll be the one reaching out to vendors, but the coordinator will handle further communication once they’re booked! Each venue handles this differently.
    2) Wedding planners typically include some kind of consultation or brainstorming session to go over things for your wedding! Again, based on your contract/venue, that will determine how accessible they are to you. Having some ideas written out might help; but you can find a TON on here under the “Inspiration” tab, and of course Pinterest 😉

    Thank you Jessica!

Mhmm thats a great question, I will have to re-look at our contract too see what it says.. I think we get both a wedding planner & day of coordinator... I really hope it is a full service planner lol Since they don't start helping out until 3 months away are you just planning on your own this whole time? Any tips if our situation is just like yours?

Yeah I just made a Pinterest account to start looking at ideas!! I have never used that inspiration tab time too start giving it some attention now!!

Thank you so much for the clarification Jessica! Goodluck planning!

Not a problem! And yes I’m planning most of it but for me it’s not too much do a hassle 😊 Our venue has an in-house florist which saves for that, and as far as other vendors, it really just depends on their availability! If they’re free for our wedding date and their price works in the budget, it’s just a matter of signing the contract and paying deposits.
If you ended up planning more than you expected on your own: 1) I’d start with a list of vendors you need, like DJ, photographer, etc. 2) Pick one at a time and just start searching! You can also see if your venue has a network of preferred vendors they use. 3) Reach out to one’s you like and ask for quotes. Most are accommodating to doing so if you need to figure out what’s in your budget. 4) Once you decide on moving forward with someone book them asap! 5) Be mindful of deadlines with your fees. I’d you’re not paying for everything up front, final payments (usually due weeks before the wedding date), can sneak up on you. Just make sure to write them all down, and how much.

Pro-tip I learned from WW: Have a wedding email if you don’t already. I cannot imagine trying to sift through all of these emails on my personal account 😂

I would pick few of your favorites and have an initial conversation with them. I am getting married in 2022 and when I was looking a lot of them were booked out throughout the year. I don’t think it’s too early to start browsing it might actually be the perfect time to look for one with all the craziness going on.
