Just Google "wedding tipping guide" and read the first several articles that pop up. Most say tipping the planner/coordinator is optional (not required, but appreciated).

Also keep in mind that the "service charge" for chef and wait staff is typically a wage/labor fee, and a tip is usually expected on top of that.

So as someone who was a venue coordinator for several years, while it's certainly nice to be tipped as well, it's not necessary.

I didn't make commission and didn't expect to be tipped, but the handful of times I was it was like $50-$100. I think that's more than fair, because really on our end at the venue it's not a huge amount of time we're spending on your wedding other than on the day of.

The hotel I worked at my managers got bonuses based on our sales, so if you think your venue/coordinator might get commission/bonuses on your event I really wouldn't worry about it, but that's just me.

If they do a great job I’d definitely give them a tip!
