Wedding planners

Julianne, on November 10, 2021 at 2:13 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
I am so stressed trying to find a quality wedding planner with a budget. I do not want to spend more than $5000. Do any of y’all have advice or ways you found yours?

When we met with our florist to start getting ideas as to what we wanted she asked if we had or had we decided on hiring a planner, in which she suggested someone to us and that is how we found our planner/day-of-coordinator. So if you have fired any vendors see if they know of any planners that they have previously worked with.

I found my day of coordinator in a Facebook group for weddings in my area! Search for groups named something along the lines of, "[city/area name] weddings" or "[city/area name] brides", and put a post with your wedding date, budget, and requested services (are you looking for someone who will do all the planning? Or a day of coordinator? Looking for help finding venues? Etc). Often times, vendors are in those groups, and will respond if they're available and meet what you're looking for. Brides may also reply with recommendations of who they've worked with for their own weddings. If you have any other vendors already booked, definitely reach out the them to ask who they recommend!

Price depends on your location and the services that are offered. Are you wanting someone to plan everything for you from the beginning and you basically show up as a guest or you plan what you want and hire someone to tie up loose ends the last month and make sure the day runs smoothly behind the scenes?

A full planner will be very expensive and many people don’t go that route unless they are busy celebrities for example getting married in between film shoots. What is most popular is a month of coordinator that ties all the loose ends and runs the wedding for you the day of. A venue coordinator is completely different and they only focus on the venue itself: making sure doors are open, vendors arrive and leave on time, etc and do not do table setup or run interference between vendors if a problem arises such as the florist is stuck in traffic or the baker canceled. Your guests stepping in to work don’t have a clue how to deal with that. At minimum definitely get a day/month of coordinator because they are a lifesaver. Many venues require you to hire one.

See if any of your other vendors like your venue or caterer offer planner services. Our caterer offered a coordinator for an extra fee that’s way cheaper than hiring a separate vendor.
