Wedding planning frustration vent

Future Mrs. Weaver, on February 18, 2022 at 7:40 AM Posted in Planning 0 2
I’m trying to plan a very small elopey type of wedding. I don’t have a good relationship with my side of the family since my father died in 2007 but I love his family a lot and I’m like an angel to them! Anyway during wedding planning for sept. 2023 and try to get a guest list and all to get started it’s been frustrating because I will have no family members there it will be all his! Im just a little bummed that I will have no one but my MOH whom I’ve known since the first day of kindergarten!!!! Yes that’s wonderful but it’s a little depressing because this is not how I pictured it and I’m sick of the way people treat my fiance! Why can’t they just be happy for me that I’m happy and y’all we’ve been together 10 years this year…so what’s the problem with my family? It’s just annoying is all but I’ll keep the family that cares to be a part of my life. Not really looking for anything but support and love and advice if you want to throw some at me but please be nice because this is a touchy subject for me! TIA!

Luckily you still have a year and a half til your wedding, so if you really wanted to build some relationships with your family, you have time to do so separate from the wedding. If they don't make you feel good, then better to not deal with the stress. I am in the opposite camp, my FH has just his mother and daughter, and I have over 60 aunts, uncles, cousins, and siblings. He loves my family like his own, so we don't really think of it as his vs mine Smiley smile Just focus on you and your husband, and congrats!
