Wedding planning help, caterer in Hawaii

Aiza, on June 13, 2019 at 8:30 PM Posted in Hawaii Planning 0 6
Aloha! I’m having my wedding next year (February 2020) here in Oahu, Hawaii and we just started looking for caterers. So far most of them is about 5-6k for 80 people. Is that a good price? For alcohol we’ll just buy our own and hire a bartender. We also might just buy our own utensils. Any tips or suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Aiza!

Hawaii is a beautiful destination for a wedding. Are you from the area?

Have you spoken with your venue coordinator about the average spent on catering for your guest count? He/she may be able to advise if the price you’re getting seem aligned with the average Smiley smile

How many caterers have you gotten pricing from? Are they all very similar? The more pricing you have, the clearer you will be able to see a pattern!

I used Keneke’s and STILL get compliments a year later on how good the food was. It was less than 4K for 140 people, including all the nice dishes, coffee station, about 8 wait staff, hand passed appetizers, and clean up. Alcohol totally separate, we spent about 1k at Costco plus the cost of the bartender..about 300.

Aloha! Yes we live here in Hawaii, so far we’ve met with 2 catering companies and prices are similar, around 5-6k for 80 people.

Most venues have preferred caterer lists. My wedding was at Kualoa, where kenekes is on the list. My mistake.. it was under 4K for about 110guests. Idk where I got 140 from. Don’t let their basic website fool you, kenekes is the best and very professional
