Wedding planning help

I’m really torn! The venue I have now will be for my ceremony and reception and the cost of my wedding so far is under 5,000 if I keep this venue but now I have to cut the list & possible run my own wedding because I do not have a planner, so I went looking into another venues for my wedding date and of course they are always booked and I found one I got lucky the bride had my date moved her wedding back so my wedding date is open & it’s the perfect venue also all inclusive but they do not allow outside catering and I have my carter already booked! Then the second venue really doesn’t need work done to it but is open on a date two weeks from the date I want & allows outside catering. Also have in house help making sure my day run smoothly!

I guess my question is how did you decide on which venue? Would you rather your date or was catering more important? How should pick between the venue or sticking with my same catering company! I’m all over the place with this one!

If you like your current venue, would you consider hiring a day of coordinator to help you on your wedding day? As for the perfect venue that does not allow outside catering, do you think you’d like their food? And does the caterer you are currently under contract with allow for cancellations? You’ll have to compare the cost and savings of the new options compared to your current arrangement to determine which one makes the most sense. You’ll also have to determine whether the date or using your current caterer is more important. If the date you chose is one that means something to you and your fiancé, that may make a difference. On the flip side, if food and using your current caterer is most important, then use that as your baseline to
    make the decision.

April 24 2019 is when we started dating. The catering I haven’t signed anything yet but she has what I wanted. I even thought about getting married with just us two on that day and do the ceremony and reception two weeks later as planned (may 8th). If I was to find a day of coordinator the price would probably be the same maybe, I’ll run numbers today! Thank you, you gave great insight!! 💝

Hi Serenity! I second Sharonda’s post 👍 one factor to consider which venue has an outdoor option on the premises. I was lucky our venue had both indoors and outdoors on the property, so as restrictions did not allow us to have our original plan, we pivoted outdoors. Good luck and let us know what you decide ❤️

Hey Katie! Thank you! Both of new venue options are outdoor and indoor, that’s one of the reason I started looking for a new venue the one that I have doesn’t have outdoor! I sure will keep y’all posted! 💝

I would take ease of doing what you want for catering, over date.

I am confused as to why you can’t use your current venue just because your you had to cut your guest list? Have you already put a deposit down and signed a contract on the venue? If so, you might not be able to get that money back if you change venues. To me, the wedding date is not important, so I would take a venue that I loved regardless of the exact date. Also, if you have already signed a contract and put a deposit down on your caterer, you might not be able to get that back.

On your anniversary date, take a break from wedding planning, and blow $300 on dinner and dancing, that will always be a special date. And create a new anniversary of marriage date. We celebrate our engagement date, as well as our wedding anniversary, every year still. Your guests are not going to care about the special date, compared to enjoying the better venue, and relative safety of outdoors for the food service. Or use the 2 week earlier date for a Rehearsal dinner, if wedding party are mostly nearby.

We decided on something that we knew for sure would be available/in operation for years to come.be careful bc many venues are going bankrupt and taking couples' money and running. Public parks and their shelters are usually a good option.

With phase two and my building isn’t a large one, I might have to cut some wedding party out I don’t want to they’ve all brought dresses and the groomsmen but their deposits on tux, I might have to cut elder out and no plus ones (covid reasons) just to make sure i have enough (I counted the vendors into my guest count) I don’t want to cut out elder because my mother died I really want my granny there and my FH want his elder folks there they are the closest to him. Then the lady told me they might not allow dancing, I wanna to wait until March to see before I make an decision, there is a contact, but I’m in Louisiana most event venues deposit really are $100 or less they more smaller ones tht is, she said if I cancel because of covid I can get get most of my money back. The caterer only took a 20 dollar deposit to hold my date. Thank you for your advice!!💝

I love it!! This right here might’ve opened my eyes in another way to romanticize my date and our relationship 😍 that’s beautiful!! Thank you so much! I think I have my answer on what I should do now, I think I might go ahead a choose the one with outdoor option for safety and it’s bigger of course more room to dance and tables spread out. 😊 thank you thank you!!!

Seriously 😳 I will be careful! How can you find out about their business going into bankruptcy? I’m waiting on information about this park here in Louisiana that may be an option for us too! Thank you!

I would just stick with the venue you have and fine a wedding planner outside source. That's what I did! She just started working with me for my July wedding. She wasn't to bad in price either. I found her at a bridal show!
