My biggest tip I’ve been telling everyone that has gotten engaged after me is to elope 😂
I’m just tired of our moms planning the wedding THEY want, and not asking what we want, even though we’re all paying for it.
But in all seriousness, depending how long you’re planning timeline is, I would recommend getting the big/important stuff out of the way. For us that was venue, photographer, DJ, and officiant. It was a stressful month but since I got that stuff done I’ve felt so much better. Also, I highly recommend looking up JWCoordination and signing up for their Master Plan. It has tons of videos and downloadable PDFs and a huge excel spreadsheet that is SUPER helpful for planning! Hope this helps! Good luck and congrats! ☺️

You are such a life saver, I had no idea about master plans! And yes I already told myself if I need too I’ll have to set boundaries to make sure our dream wedding is how we imagined it!

When I first started planning everyone told me to set a budget and decide on the guest list first. Budget was easy enough since I just pulled a random number I would like to spend without knowing how much things really cost. Guest list was a whole different story. All that to say, I would start with an idea of what you want your wedding day to look like, see whether that fits your budget, identify the big vendors that are important to you and make adjustments 145,837,273 times after that haha.

Congrats on getting engaged how fun, So First off, come up with a realistic budget, come up with a guest list, come up with a season you want to get married in do you want the cooler tempatures with flowers go for spring, or would you perfer a fall wedding with deep rich colors, maybe you want summer or winter then go check out venues, I am a 2022 bride and venues are booking up fast due to covid having everyone postpone their weddings

I'm with countrybride. I love her enthusiasm for the "feeling" of the wedding you want. That will determine your overall look. Then you make out your guest list, hunt for a reputable venue that fits in your budget. You can start looking at dresses and as well, start interviewing a photographer-videographer team, ideas for honeymoon, location of ceremony. Your # of guests will determine your venue budget. So the average plate per person starts about $80 and goes up from there (I'm from NYC and the average here is $120 per person plus taxes and gratities). Talk to your parents to see if they are willing to pay for anything, i.e., the bar charges, the flower charges--maybe your parents want to buy your gown. If you both are paying, you really need to look hard at your cash flow/savings/expenses and plan accordingly. I wanted a wedding of 75, but we decided to go down to 50 so we can get exactly what we want. Had to bite the bullet, but in the end, we won't be broke and in debt. Best of luck & love!!
