Wedding Planning

Hi! My fiance and I are getting married in 2024. I was wondering how much do people usually spend on a wedding? We're getting married in Hudson Valley and our roughly estimated headcount is 125 (but this could definitely go lower). Thank you!

There is no usual. Pricing greatly varies depending on location, vendors, etc. I recommend setting an overall budget then breaking it down further into categories. For example, say your total budget is $20,000. I would then think about what you would like to spend on each category. Certain categories you are obviously going to spend more on like venue and catering. Other things you won't spend as much on.

We got married in September in South Jersey, we had 165 people and it cost us about $40-45k

But as Veronica said, there is no usual, we could have definitely spent more or less, depending on a few options, and if we had it in my home state vs NJ, we would have likely spent $15-20k less, but we would have had a lot more people.

Oomph, Hudson Valley is still very pricey for the views although not New York City. I'd say it is comparable to outer boroughs so $40- 70k. If you choose Manhattan, then add $20k more. You can look at WW Real Weddings under the Ideas tab to see local venue ideas. Also, Id consider if some guests are traveling. The Albany airport may incur more $, or if JFK, LGA, Newark there is a drive. Good luck
