Wedding postponed!

Molly, on March 10, 2021 at 10:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

So I've been debating and and trying to work out the details of postponing. Today we made it official with our venue and the church to postpone our August 2021 wedding to May 2022. For the last month I've put a hold on planning because I wasn't sure what was going to happen and felt so behind on plans. I feel so relieved now that I have an official date again! I can actually start planning again and get back in wedding planning mood.

I'll need to send out change the dates/new save the dates. We had engagement photos taken before we had a venue and theme selected. The photos were suppose to be at the end of summer, but due to weather/wildfires the photoshoot had to be postponed to early fall. The photos were taken at a farm, so it had a rustic style, but the wedding is going to be glam/elegant. I kind of want to re-do engagement photos and send out new ones so they actually match our theme. Thoughts? Has anyone done multiple engagement photos before? What did you do for your change the dates?

Sorry you had to postpone! If you wanted to redo the engagement photos, and it's in your budget, I say go for it! My fiance and I are taking a second set of engagement photos, but only because it'll have been two years since either of us were last in front of a camera, and we want to take another set to feel more comfortable in front of a camera again closer to our new wedding date (we postponed from 2020 to 2022). You are only a fiancee for a short period of time, you can never have too many photos from that time period!

I'm sorry you are having to postpone out 2 years! But that makes sense that you'd want to have another engagement shoot to be in front of the camera again so you are prepared when it's wedding time! That's actually a great way to think about it! Thanks for sharing!

I know it’s hard to postpone. You have an idea of when you’re going to get married and then poof you have to reset the clock. I’m glad you see the silver lining and that you have more time to plan and arrange things to your liking. It is a stressful process even without having to juggle all the other parts of your life.

If you want you retake your engagement photos go ahead. You can use them as your change the date photos and have them at the location you really wanted.
I didn’t use photos for our save the dates even though we did take engagement photos they were more for ourselves. I did the same with our change the dates. We may use the photos during our cocktail hour or on our display table with our seating chart and guest book.

I'm so glad you've got a new date and a fresh wave of planning excitement!! ❤️

I saw go for it and do a new engagement shoot! It will be a nice reset, and you can do a totally different style for these photos! You could go formal if you went more casual last time, or find a more glam location! ✨

I'm still trying to figure out if I want photos on the change the dates. But overall I think I do want new engagement photos. Like you said I could use them to display during the wedding or even on the website.
