Wedding Postponement Brides: When is your new date? What wedding preparations do you have more time for now?

Chanieish, on March 19, 2020 at 11:52 AM Posted in Planning 0 40

Hi everyone,

I know that we are in the midst of a huge global problem that has forced many of us to cancel/postpone our wedding dates months to a year out. We are strong and we will weather through this! On a more positive note:

1. When is your new wedding date? Ours is May 1st 2021. I love the date and it is easy to remember ha! The flowers and vineyard will be more in bloom then as well. Smiley smile

2. Since you have more time for preparations/planning now, are you making any additions and changes to your wedding? I am getting more personalized gifts for my wedding party, redesigning some of the signs to make them more intricate, buying a 2nd pair of shoes to wear during reception, saving more $$$ so I can have my flower explosion, personalizing more wedding favors and inviting more people. I want to make it bigger and better!!

Keep safe!

Chanieish

Hi! Our original date was April 25th. New date is September 13. We are still hoping to get married on the 25th with just our immediate family. I don’t plan on doing much more since we already have everything. Maybe a new set of pjs for myself since the ones I bought say 4.25.20. But that’s about it.

Hi all. Good idea to think of the positives. Mine is on June 28, 2020 and we have relatives coming from South America and over 3K spent in flight tickets so I cannot make a decision just yet. But I would at this point like to postpone it for piece of mind. It’s hard to imagine June being normal and even if it is, there is still lots to do and I cannot see myself focusing on anything with so much uncertainty.

Our date is Saturday 3-21-20 and we have postponed to June 13 as of right now. We were 7 days away before postponing so literally everything is done and I mean everything even down to the logistics and to the last minute of what everyone is doing.
If you need help with your timeline or figuring put anything, I am here to help.

Hi our wedding date is May 9th might have to postpone til August 8th due to what's going on. Everything we have purchased for our wedding has our original wedding date on it. If we do have to postpone we will still be getting married that day by our officiant but have a celebration and recpection in August. Hopefully we wont have to do all that keeping our 🤞

Our original date is special to us so we’d like to still get married if we can. It will be just with our immediate family. We will still have a ceremony on our new date.

Same! We packed our wedding stuff in boxes too. Are you sending update invites via online or another physical invite?

I did postcards for STDs the first time and they were sooo cheap to do through Vistaprint sale. I might do different design or maybe do small envelope with a postcard and a details card. But I think I am going to do virtual invitation and RSVP this time just cause the invites were more expensive. What about you?

I am in almost the same predicament. July 18th wedding and 27 of my guest including grandmother who is 90 bought their flights form Brazil. The Brazilian economy was already having issues before covid-19 and so I know what a sacrifice financially the flight was for them. I’ve been crying three days straight and I guess what hurts the most is the unknown. I want to postpone and rip the bandaid off my my fiancé doesn’t want to give up.

My wedding was supposed to be this Saturday March 21st and moved to November 21st, 2020. The 21st has no significance really but this is the only Sat available at our venue other than Halloween or all of Dec.

Our original date was May 3, 2020. We decided to postpone to June 28, 2020. Luckily all of our vendors have been amazing! With so much time now and since things are so unpredictable, we have decided to not invest more money on wedding things, just for a little while and save more money. We bought a gorgeous wood welcome sign that has the May 3 date. If I can’t get the vendor to help me change the date on it, then we’ll just use it as is. To be quite honest this whole situation helped me put this wedding thing into perspective. Who cares if things aren’t 100% perfect for a wedding. L There are more important things in life.

We have postponed to the same date! Mine was May 1st 2020 and now we are May 1st 2021. We were getting married in our 14 year anniversary and know it will be our 15 year anniversary. We’ve waited this long already what’s one more year. I already had everything planned but I still needed to finish making my centerpieces, however I am now just going to box everything up so it doesn’t get dusty sitting around for the next year. I will need to get a whole new suit for my three year old son, as I had already bought and washed the current one, so no returning. The only other thing I will really need to plan is new invites but I have plenty of time and won’t be doing it until it gets closer to the time to resend them. I already contacted all of my guest and informed them of the postponement. I’m sad we all had to adjust our plans but I know that we all did the best thing for everyone’s safety and health.

We have moved from 3/30 to 7/20. Many people are still freaking out from what I see about July dates. I am just sending all the good vibes things will be somewhat better in 4 months. We will still go ahead and get married beforehand. Just trying to figure out how to change all my signs and everything. I did them all by myself as well as made our favors with our dates. A lot of money to move the wedding but I do have to say that the vendors have all been amazing. Best of luck to us all and major *HUGS*. I know I could use one right now.

I think we are gonna go super cheap and send out paperless post email invites LOL!

We spent $3500 on invitations for the first round and I can't justify spending anymore especially because our originals were so stunning and anything else I can find for a more reasonable price will be underwhelming in comparison. Smiley sad

Maybe I will send a save the date card though, that's a great idea!
