Wedding Processional Song Order

FutureMrsKC, on August 14, 2018 at 11:43 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 9

Hi all, I'm feeling totally crazy lately and can't find any reliable sources.

Whats the processional timeline as far as specific songs?

Grandparents/Parents get a song

FH/Groomsmen get a song (they're all walking out together)

Bridesmaids/Flower girl/Ring bearer get a song

Then the song changes for the bride?

A lot of sources say all bridal party including groom walk in to same song, is this true? This is a little detail I shouldn't worry over but I need to know how many songs to pick for the church to approve of! TIA!

It's really up to you. I'm having the processional song start when the first people walk down the aisle, which should be FH. Then one more song for when I walk down the aisle.

I think that would be too many songs. The way we did it was to have the parents and the guys walk in with the same song. Then the bridesmaids, flower girls, ring bearer and me walked down to the same song. If you really wanted your own song then you could do a separate song but I think 3 is the most you should have. 4 is too many.

It's definitely personal preference. But I would keep in mind how long the walk is for everyone; if it's a short walk, it might sound a little strange to only have 20-30 seconds of a song played before switching over to a new one.

We had grandparents/parents/GM/BM/FH all walk out to the same song then a different song for me.

Agree. A song is about 2-3 minutes so that is 12 minute of procession just for them. Usually it is all one song until the bride.

It's totally up to you and probably depends on how much music control you have! If you have a hired musician or DJ you can ask them to fade out the current song and move on to the next one based on the processional progress!

I did one song for the parents, then a different song of the bridesmaids, and a different song for me. The organist kept an eye on the wedding party and smoothly ended each song when we needed the next one to start!

I think it is up to you honestly. We are only doing two I think.

Grandparents, parents, FH, Groomsmen/bridesmaids all walking into jurassic world theme song. (I'm pretty sure it's a long song so it should work for all of them). Then me and my dad with a different song.

Yes we do have a pianist and she will be at our rehearsal to practice us all walking down the aisle and timing. She would be able to gauge when the songs would need to change, I just didn't know how many were practical. I never pay attention to the music when I go to weddings!

I imagine that if you would like multiple songs as cues for each group, you could talk with your dj to create a mix that will make shorten the songs. If you have a number of people, or if some people will need additional time to walk in the procession, having a song or two play before the song the bride will walk to should be sufficient. It will all be beautiful no matter what you decide!

It will be much easier with a pianist than with a DJ. If you want four different songs, go for it. I would talk to the pianist about it and see what they think.
