Wedding Processional - Where does the Father of the Groom go?

risalee, on May 4, 2011 at 5:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

How are you all including the Father of the Groom in the wedding processional? I am planning on having the mother's escorted by an usher (brother), and my Dad will walk me down the aisle, so not sure how to include his father? Are any of you having the groom walk down the aisle with his parents? Does he just take his seat before the ceremony starts? Looking for ideas! Thanks!

I'm thinking of having my FH's dad and his mom walk down together, but since FH wants to WALK down the aisle to, we may have both of them do it with him, no set decision yet but most likely, they will walk down together (his mom and dad) and he'll wait for me

I believe my FH's parents are going to walk down together. Not sure if FH will walk with them yet. Don't know what's traditional here.

I talked to my officiant about this. And we are having an usher escort grandma, with grandpa behind. Same w/his step mom, he will escort her and father will walk behind. My cousin (a GM) will escort my mom.

There is no need to have ushers escort the mothers. The mothers can walk down with their spouse, or another sibling.

My DH and his father walked with his mom. It was something that his mom really wanted, so I said no problem.

The Father of the groom usually walks with the mother of the groom or can walk behind the Mother of the groom if she is being escorted by an usher.

some options if divorced parents - option if groom wants to walk his Mom down.

    Seating of the Grandmothers

(Groom's Stepmom escorted by usher & FOG walking behind)

MOG escorted by Groom & Dad walking with or behind (Stepdad walking behind)

MOB is always the last guest seated (by usher). That is the cue to guests that processional is about to start.

Officiant enters (with Groom - or - With groom and groomsmen)

    BMs with or w/o groomsmen

MOH with or w/o Best Man

    Flower girl & ring bearer

    Bride & FOB
