Ceremony programs are mostly unnecessary and can absolutely be skipped to save money.

Not only unnecessary, not even traditional. It’s certainly not any kind of violation of etiquette or protocol. The old school view is that guests know at least one family, often both, and that it’s a wedding, not a performance. These days it can be nice extra to see the names, or maybe something about the ceremony but you are also free to skip.

Ceremony programs are only necessary if you're having a religious ceremony and you have guests in attendance that don't share your religion. Programs were a must for us because we had a Jewish ceremony and not all of our guests were Jewish. I once attended a Christian ceremony without programs and I was completely lost the whole time and had no clue what was going on! If you're having a secular wedding, then by all means--skip the programs

You don’t need them at all! If you really don’t want to leave them out, they’re also easy to do on your own for a fraction of the cost. They don’t need to be fancy. Just use columns on Word to get them to half a page and add a logo or icon across the top or use a nicer font. And then print on regular paper or card stock depending on your preference. Again, it’s not at all a necessity, but it’s super easy to cheap out on these if you want them and no one will bat an eye.

Programs are sooooo unnecessary!! Save your money. We had our officiant work in the names of our attendants in her little monologue, and when she called each of our 2 speakers up she mentioned their name and our history with that individual. re: "And now I call Toni, Pat's best friend for the last 51 years, to do this special reading about ........"

They are only necessary when you have a religious ceremony where guests are required to follow along. Otherwise save your money and time

Sooo unnecessary! I’m doing a wedding newspaper putting it inside the welcome bag that also outlines the ceremony information but also other information of the weekend since it’s a destination wedding

I've seen some people create a large (ex, poster board sized) sequence of events sign that's placed somewhere central inside the venue. how do people feel about this?
