wedding quilt squares instead of guest book?

Katie, on March 23, 2012 at 6:25 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

My fiance and I have decided not to have a guest book. We don't see the point in spending money on something that we will never look at. We are going to have guests sign fabric squares and then sew them into a quilt. Has anyone ever done this? How did it work out?

    Welcome to WW Katie ~

    Love the idea!!!

I've been to a wedding where they had this.

Please have someone in charge of the "guest book"

If they are individual squares, you will want someone to notify the guests not to write to the edges because you need room to sew them together.

What an awesome idea and a great way to be able to "look" at the memories of that day.

I'm going to be doing this but the squares won't exactly be made into a quilt. Instead they'll be made into a table runner and/or wall hanging for the dining room. I have a wine motif fabric that I'll be cutting squares and will come up a cute poem to frame and put by the squares with the micron pens and an example of how I want the guests to sign them. I'm a quilter and sewer so I'll be making it myself after the wedding.
