Wedding Rant

Shenea, on June 15, 2023 at 10:18 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11
I don’t need anyone’s negative opinions, I’m just venting right now. Wedding is 90 days away so let me be in my bridezilla ranting moment. We’ve all been here.
Hindsight: I wish I would’ve stuck to my 1st mind & did a destination wedding. I Hate that I’m having a larger wedding (100+) & getting married in 2023 with inflated pricing. Everything now is double, in some cases triple, what it was before CoVid. Now don’t get me wrong, my side of family makes up almost half that number but still. If I could do it all over again, it would be a small wedding (20-50ppl), small bridal party (2), and that’s it. Hell, even eloped. Your girl is TIRED! Tired of planning, tired of choosing, tired of dealing with everyone! But we’re here now. Nothing to do but go through it. *woo-sah*

I totally get the pricing issue. We are planning a very small and intimate “ceremony” with hopefully just our parents (maybe a few others, but I would rather it just be our parents for sure) and a large reception a year later. It gives us soooo much more time to save money, especially since we just finished our move. We already booked the venue for it and I mean I hope it’s gonna be great, but I don’t expect perfection. I hope your wedding goes well with all your thoughts and planning that went into it. Rooting for ya!

Say it girl! You are not a bridezilla. You're just right. The planning... Honestly, now that the vendors are locked down it feels easier for me and I like where I am. But it was really hell there for several months. I also wanted a destination wedding but I got outvoted by both our families and the groom.

This is soooo not being a Bridezilla!! These prices are no joke. I got engaged in October 2021 and started doing research on prices right away for my wedding this September, and it is absolutely painful how different those numbers look now. And not because I decided to go for more expensive vendors, but the same people I’ve been interested in since the beginning have raised the rates so much. It is insanely frustrating.

Amen; we've been strapped for cash and looking at everything is overwhelming. Trying to keep sanity during the FRIGGING BEGINNING is bad enough. Thank you for being rooted in reality.

The PRICING! I got married in 2021 and I'm so mad for so these couples now! My venue was, if I remember correctly, maybe $4500 tops, being slightly cheaper because it was a Friday wedding. I looked it up a few weeks ago because I was talking to a friend about it, and that same venue is now $7200, and you have to rent out the entire weekend! Even tips from two years ago such as "get married on a Friday or Sunday for cheaper rates" doesn't seem to apply anymore!

You have every right to rant, I'm so sorry

Yeah, pricing is CRAZY. We were originially going to get married in May 2020 (then September 2020 . . . then February 2021 . . . ended up getting married in July 2021) and ended up having our vendors pick out our date because I had already paid everyone and didn't want to have to pay the new prices to anyone new. I literally made up a calendar for June - September of 2021 and had each of my vendors tell me which weekends they had open, then the ONE weekend they were all free is the one we went with.

I relate 100%, what's been going on with the prices makes no sense. It's like there's a secret deal between all wedding venues to raise their prices at the same time. It makes no sense for the arrangements to be this expensive. I'm aware there's an economical crisis, but come on, not everything has to be 2-3 more expensive, why is that suddenly a "just how things are-deal with it" situation...

If there was a ❤️ button, I’d press it for every single comment, I swear! And @John- the beginning.. The FRIGGIN BEGINNING!!! Oh my God! Full on breakdown 😂 But thank you for creating a safe space & allowing me to vent my frustrations, to see I’m not alone. It’s not just me, it’s the industry & it’s now standard practice. I send everyone well wishes on your big day as it will be beautiful (whether it’s upcoming or has passed), love & the peaceful energy to say “forget it”. Wish y’all the best 😊❤️
