What food are y’all having at your wedding reception? A caterer that we are interested in using is letting us have whatever we want and they will do it. I have no idea where to even start.. ideas on appetizers, entrees??? HELP, suggestions, IDEAS.

Ask them for sample menus from other weddings they’ve done. That will give you ideas and you can mix and match.

Contact restaurants in your area. Many offer catering services and the food is often better and a larger quantity than a wedding caterer at a lower price because they don't force the wedding extras on you.

For apps, we had mango chicken bites, grilled cheese, tomoto and basil squares, and fried ravoli with marinara sauce. Then we had a salad course and we picked Caesar salad as the salad option. Our main meal was carved turkey, prime rib, a pasta station with penne pasta or tortellini with vodka sauce and alfredo, mashed potatoes, and grilled veggies. We had a candy bar that was open throughout the entire reception. Our late night snack was a nacho bar.

It's not crazy, it's what it costs in cities, unfortunately. Operating costs are higher, so costs per head are higher.

Ask around as to what other events they have done. Find out what their best dishes are, and make your decision from there.

It was amazing. Our venue had options for us to pick from, but I asked them to specifically make the fried ravoli. I was so excited when they said they could. Our friends had fried ravoli at their wedding and I wanted that for mine since theirs.
