We are planning on having a DJ but I need a few ideas for our cocktail hour and for people who don't like to dance. Everything is going to be inside. Particularly, things people can do on their own. Like, a lot of people have activities such as filling out a guestbook or a photobooth. So, idk. What kind of things are you guys doing?

I've never been to a wedding with lawn games even if my venue recommended them for cocktail hour. Never once missed them either.

I agree with @TreeShade- I blame Pinterest for that stuff

Have you considered a game of spin the bottle? That way it's as awkward as possible for your sober guests, and the bottle will remind them of the lack of booze.

It seems like you are aware that you need something to entertain your guests because you know dry weddings are boring. Games wont replace alcohol.

@fallbride uhm no maybe bother reading before you go on a rant. I said not all weddings have to be the exact same THAT would be boring. And @mna it was all in good fun, it got him to loosen up and we did a couple rounds with it too. Smiley smile

"Not all weddings have to be the exact same. How boring !"

@Jennifer maybe re read what you wrote because unless you worded your post incorrectly that was what I deducted from it that all weddings that are the same( which every wedding is different even without games) are boring.

Hey, Hey, @MNA, we have booze at our children's birthday parties (not for the kids mind you).

We at least know how to properly host people.

Have beer and wine at the very least. I'm not a big drinker at all but will always have a few glasses of wine at a wedding.

@Jessie: I actually have never been to one with booze, but they've usually also been blessedly short and sweet. Lol!

Yay for good hosting by your friends though!

@MNA - The booze is so I can tolerate the grandmas and the other children. Other people can imbibe too. Mostly other moms, I know what they're dealing with.

FH and I barely drink at all, but we're hosting everyone's drinks and I was just poking around my pantry noticing that there's a lot of booze in there because...well...we host a lot of parties and people want to drink at parties.

I would call this recess vs cocktail hr.

ETA: or maybe intermission, btwn the ceremony and reception. Don't lead people to believe there are cocktails during "cocktail hr".

We are having a SUPER casual beach wedding and will have cornhole and giant jenga set up. But as everyone above has said, totally not necessary.

We're having a photo booth. One of my friends saw a dice game for the bar where if you don't know what to drink you can roll the dice and have whatever drink corresponds with that number. She seemed excited about it but I feel like people know what they want to drink.

@baseballbride-If I were stuck behind someone at the bar rolling die for a drink I would be livid. That sounds like a recipe for a backedup bar and bitter boozers
