Wedding registry. What was your most expensive item purchased?

FinallyMrsSloan, on October 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 22

So FH and I registered yesterday. He had way too much fun scanning items. I'm just curious because he registered for crazy expensive items. I know we need to have a good price range of high to low items but did you actually receive your expensive items? Is it ok to put the same item on the list at 2 different places? I'm clueless when it comes to this.

We have only received gifts from my shower but the most expensive thing purchased was our food processor at $180, (with a $50 gift card to a grocery store so we can "Get food to process!" so that gift totaled around $230). We also received our King size bed set which was around $150. So Yes, people will purchase big items, (multiple people usually go in on them).

I dont know if I would put it on two different places though. Then you might get two of them?

My most expensive was the KitchenAid mixer ($450), but about 5 people went in on it for my Bridal Shower gift. Aside from that, the most expensive gift was a drink server thing that was $115.

The most expensive item from a non-family member was probably 3 places settings of china at $100 a piece...

i wouldn't put the same item at 2 separate locations

I wouldn't register for the same thing twice, unless you really want 2 of them. The most expensive thing we've gotten is our 2 suitcases, the hosts of my first shower went in on them together. I was super floored. We also got our "no one will buy us this relatively impractical we'd never buy this but Emmy thinks it is the prettiest thing ever" expensive gift, Nambe kitchen utensil holder

I registered last week and was feeling super guilty about the expensive stuff but then I thought when I'm giving a gift I try to go in with someone because I know I would rather have the vacuum, mixer, etc. than a serving dish or cake plate. Also, some people will just get you a gift card in their price point knowing that you can put that toward one of the big ticket items. People always ask my mom what I want/need so I gave her the 5 top things (knives #1!!) I definitely want and she can let that information fall where it may haha. I swear I'm not as bitchy or gift grabby as this post sounds.

I wouldn't register for the same thing at 2 places.

The most expensive cash gift was $500 and the most expensive item registry was $200 (which was the highest priced item on there)

My in-laws purchased my husband and I a 6 qt. KitchenAid mixer. Those are $450 w/o coupons. We actually received a lot of really nice, thoughtful gifts that couldn't have been cheap.

The man who made my engagement and wedding bands (a family friend), made me a pair of diamond and pearl earrings as my wedding gift. We also received crystal wine stoppers, a silver wine bottle opener, some really cool custom wooden name placards, and a gorgeous cutting board that is in the shape of Michigan, among other things.

I'm not sure how much some of those things cost, but by the quality alone, I would say they're up there near the KitchenAid mixer.

The most expensive item purchased was really multiple of the same item. We asked for 8 place settings of china and my FMIL bought ALL 8! Over $600 right there. One was delivered with a smashed plate inside so I had to return it and order a new one yesterday Smiley sad I won't tell her unless my FH already did.

Someone bought us a $250 scotch decanter and $100 glasses. They are a family friend (not even family!) and I was shocked. The range is generosity of gifts is pretty staggering.

Our Dyson vacuum. It was like $600-something. Although it was from FH's parents so I don't know if that entirely counts, but it counts. And it's a fabulous vacuum!
