Wedding registry

I’m looking for a unique registry that isn’t gifts based. I’m looking for a registry so people can donate to a honeymoon destination instead.

There are quite a few honeymoon fund websites. But they don’t actually allow guests to purchase an excursion or pay for part of your hotel. The money gets deposited to your bank account with the website taking a percentage. In my experience people give cash or check on their own at a wedding.

I used Zola for mine. But be mindful that they'll charge a transaction fee.

We used The Knot for our Honeymoon Fund. I like this because it was attached to our wedding website, as well as our other registries, and we were not charged any transaction fee.

If you just want money, it might be better to not make a registry at all. They charge fees to the people giving (in most cases). We were all set to do a honeymoon cruise website and have our registry set up, but then there was a whole other set of rules, like if the money we put onto our cruise account isn't spent by the end of the cruise, we forfeit it and the cruise line gets to keep it. Whaaat? I don't think so!

So we just aren't asking for anything and we've been spreading the word that we'd prefer cash or gift cards to help out with the honeymoon. People will get the hint either way and will bring money on the day-of, or a personalized gift, or they won't bring anything. And if they don't bring anything, that's OK. We're just happy they're coming to wish us well and celebrate with us. Anything else is icing on the cake. Smiley heart

We're using Zola for our honeymoon registry. I've used The Knot and Honeyfund as a guest as well. If people typically give cash at weddings in your circles, you can also consider just not registering at all and hoping that people take the hint.

There are no such registries. The "honeymoon registries" just give you the money, they don't earmark it in any way for your honeymoon destination.

And they are unnecessary. If you don't register, people will give you cash or checks. With a honeymoon registry, you'll get less, because the honeymoon fund will take part of the money.

I used MyRegistry.com because there were a few things that I actually did want.

If your partner is planning to do any pre wedding parties that could involve gifts, it might be a good idea to have a registry where there will be physical items to purchase. Things such as whisky tumblers/wine glasses or home decor are good options for these physical items.

We used Zola. On their site we were able to house our honeymoon fund and charities, and link to external gift registries at retailers. It worked very well.
