Wedding registry

Julee, on August 8, 2021 at 7:05 AM Posted in Registry 0 11
My fiancé and I have been together for 9 years and will have been together for over 11 by the time we get married. We will both also be in our 40’s. Needless to say we pretty much have everything we need. I am not making the mistake of not having a registry as I’ve seen too many people do this and end up with dishes and towels ect, a lot of things to fill the house we have already filled. My sister showed me a registry called blueprint that was unique. It asked for gifts for specific things like getting my hair done or couples massage or dinner and guests can contribute a specific amount to any “item” but whatever is gifted to you is just gifted for you to do with as you see fit. The thing is there are people that will want to give a physical gift so I need to have a few things on there as well that are physical things we would actually need and use. The blueprint registry only has preselected vendors and items and I would want to have it be from other vendors. So I am thinking of changing the registry or having two. Here is the main question: Is it ok to have 2 registries? What registry are you using and why?

I think it’s pretty typical to have more than one registry. Most showers I’ve been to they were registered at target and bed bath and beyond and Amazon. So I definitely think this is okay. Especially since you want one for like cash value and another for physical items.

You can definitely have 2 different registries. My husband and I have Zola & Amazon. We absolutely love Amazon, but our wedding website is on Zola & it allowed us to merge the 2 together.

You can definitely have two registries, but I wouldn’t register for things like a “couples massage” if you have no plans to use that money for that experience. When I select a gift like that off a registry, that’s what I expect the couple to do.

We have 3 registries, Amazon, Macy's and then a Disney honeymoon one. The honeymoon one is pretty explanatory, then I picked Macy's because there were some things on it I liked. We are like you, we've been together almost 7 years now and we've lived together most of that time, so we have basically everything we need. We picked Amazon because you don't just have to register for the typical things. On ours, we put a bunch of cleaning supplies we use, some games we would like, and other things that we would use if we got it vs. the usual stuff that we already have.

My Fiance and I have lived together 3 years and been together 7. Its perfectly find to have multiple registries, most people do. I'm not sure where I'm registering yet but a lot of things we have are essentially "hand-me-downs" or things we already have, so we will be registering for things that need upgrading like toaster oven, flatware, mixing bowls, cutting boards, towels/bath mats, bed sheets

I definitely want a couples massage but if people only give $10 to every experience there would t be enough to do them all if that makes sense. Some of the things on there are money towards honeymoon and upgrade to first class tickets. The other thing was my sister said they did it as a bridal shower one first so the bride asked for money to get her hair or nails done (things for bride only) then changed it to wedding I was thinking more wedding the whole time

Yes upgrading some household items was an idea I had as well. You have a great mindset going. It’s tough in some ways I think when you’ve already been together so long but people want to treat it like you barely know each other 😫

Many of the weddings I've been to had more than one registry. As a guest, I much prefer that you tell me exactly what you want lol. But honestly, it's no one's business if you use the money for that experience or take the cash. Put on there what you think you'll like. It is fun for people to choose. But I wouldn't feel obligated. True gifts don't come with strings attached. That's why gift receipts are a thing. 😊 To answer your question, we just have a honeymoon registry.

Right!! I'd prefer to upgrade things I already have. Our flatware we got used from his mom, our toaster oven used from my parents. I have a tea pot that is fine, we have a coffee maker which is fine, we have plates, wine glasses, coffee mugs, hot cocoa mugs, baking sheets, various baking dishes, glass storage containers, Tupperware, wooden spoons and the like. - all of that I've gotten for christmas/birthday gifts lol but we don't have nice carry on luggage so we might register for that, or some power tools we don't have. I already know my mom is gifting us pots/pans because I hate our stainless steel set

We have lived together for over ten years and registered for a lot of upgrades that we probably wouldn’t have bought ourselves, such as a nicer set of pots and pans, matching silverware, etc. I donated our older and mix and match ones to Salvation Army. We also registered for a few “random” things like a plastic table and folding chairs that have become so useful when we have get togethers at our house, large canvas storage bags to keep extra bedding, and new heavy-duty set of grill tools. I can honestly say that each time I use something that was gifted at the shower, I immediately think of the person who bought it!
