Wedding registry

The best way to get the information out to your guests that you don't want physical gifts is to simply not register. MOST people will bring a card with money to your wedding. However, there might still be a few people that bring a physical gift, just because that is what they prefer to do. Nothing you can really do about that. Also, keep in mind that forgoing a registry means that you will have to omit a bridal shower as well. Unless you have a lingerie or stock the bar shower.

I also agree with this post. I'd also just not broadcast your registry. I'm only going to include it on my bridal shower invites. If someone asks then sure I'll give them the details.

I think it's a know-your-crowd thing. In some circles, if you don't register people will just bring you cash. In others, people will bring random gifts to the wedding. Do you have a sense of what people in your area typically bring to weddings?

If you do want a cash fund, I'd have it be earmarked towards something (I see honeymoon funds or mortgage funds a lot) or otherwise not register at all and roll the dice.

And then if you do want a bridal shower, probably have it be a lingerie shower instead!

I just wouldn't register. I've seen honeyfund registries though, but we've never given to one.
