Just don’t deal with it. “This is when we need you there.” If that doesn’t work for them, that’s on them to figure out, not you. Setting boundaries is important and their stress isn’t your issue. If they continue to force the subject/complain, let them know that you gave them your answer and won’t be discussing it anymore. End conversations if necessary.

Set boundaries. If they cross those boundaries, cut contact.

And if they want to stick their nose in, change the subject. Every time. EVERY time. If they won't take the subject change, end the conversation.
