Wedding right after deployment

Holley , on January 7, 2018 at 6:46 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 13
Hello! So I just got engaged last month and my fiancé and I are planning on getting married sometime in August. The thing is I will be on deployment until then and was wondering how I will be able to send out invitations if I won’t know the exact date maybe a month before? Is that even doeable? This just seems so stressful to me right now.

I would plan for further past his return date. The military has a way of consistently changing return dates and you wouldn’t want to have everything planned for a certain day and then find out he won’t be back in time.

When are you getting deployed? Send save the dates for now and maybe reach out to everyone explaining the situation. If you can get married in October instead it would be a lot easier to handle because you would be able to send invites with enough time.

The thing is whenever I get back from deployment I will be going on leave right after and won’t have that many leave left and he is also in the miltary and deploying shortly after me the next year. The military just seems so complicated sometimes especially dual

If you can send save the dates out this month it should be fine. Have your SO contact everyone while you’re deployed to let them know the specifics and any updates. Just put August on your save the dates, no specific date.

Sorry I misread. How many guests are you planning on inviting? Can you reach out to all of them and explain the situation? That way they know to watch out for invites but also know that it could be anytime in August.

Depending on your branches, could one of you ask to augment the others unit as a way to try and align your deployment times? The other suggestion would be to allow 3 months between returning from deployment and setting the wedding date.

May both of you be safe and Thank You both for your dedication. Smiley heart

Hey girl! I was in the military also! I was try and set up with a loved one or your Fiancé to assemble the invited and send them out. Make an itemized list/ instructions and have them triple check it all. Try to prepared as much prior and leave them with the easy amount. I would do this so I know it was done right- I’m a control freak. You can still have them send out while your gone but it will be more work.

Yes, I would just ask for help whether is from the fiancé or family or a trusted friend. I think it’s all doable just a little harder. Good luck!

My FH and I are both military, so I feel your pain. He’s leaving to Korea in April and we were planning on getting married on his mid tour, which could be Sept, Oct, Nov. so since it wasn’t solid, we decided to get married before Korea and will get married in March now. I’d wait until at least a month or 2 from your return date.
