Wedding Ring Cost Issues - Halo Engagement Ring

I have a unique shaped ring, and I'm actually just getting a very simple dainty band. No jewels, nothing fancy. I didn't want to take away from my ring. I like the look!

Are you saying that you're just doing a normal straight band and dealing with the gap?

I also don't want any gems or anything but they are saying to tailor the shape of the wedding band to fit snug against the engagement ring is what is going to cost so much due to the labor involved, not the materials.

We ran into a similar problem with the shape of my ring. I ended up with an enhancer that used the mismatch fit to it's advantage. But I totally feel you with how expensive bands can get. I think your idea of a similar straight band is a great one. It sounds like it fits your style well.

I've never seen that style with a band attached, I would say the steep curve of it would be a custom job.
Now you might try looking online at like Etsy for antique or estate jewelery to fit it, I find it requires more research but it's often cheaper.

Also, my fiance went to a metal smith/jeweler in our area to design my ring and it was so much more reasonable than buying from a box store. We are working with him again to design our wedding bands. Could you search for anyone like that near you?

Yep! I'm not soldering, just having the gap! My ring is an heirloom ring so I don't wear it all the time anyway (when I'm working outside, on a vacation, etc.) so I'll just wear the band then. I know it's not traditional but I like the look!

We've tried a few smaller jewelers in the area but they all were estimating costs far out of our range just because of the shape. I wish I could find a jewelry smith that did their stuff in store all the places we've talked to only ship out to a jewelry smith out of state or country which I feel is also driving the price up.

I've considered that too. Maybe I'll just have to give the ring bearer my engagement ring to hold for the day instead.

I have a more unique shaped ring that frankly didn't look good with a band so I am not wearing one. In my mind, there is nothing that says you have to have one. I think your ring is gorgeous without one!

I had a post a while back about not being able to find something I liked next to my engagement ring. We opted to go with a right hand ring. That is another option, or maybe you left middle finger. I do like the twiggy ring you found though.
