Wedding ring engraving for FH - ideas?

Britt, on January 12, 2016 at 10:16 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 17

I'd like to get something engraved on FH's wedding ring, but could use some help. I have 27 characters to play with. I like the idea of writing something referencing biblical ideas (like about us being "one"), but also thought of something more unique to us (Forever my Raybaby). I'm just trying to think about what would make sense considering it's on his hand, not mine. I'm probably overthinking that part.

FYI - He had my engagement ring engraved ("from my heart" - and then his birthstone, super tiny!) I love it. So personal and thoughtful. I want to do the same for him! Not the birthstone thing, just the sentiment. I do want it to be different plus my birthstone is a diamond (April) - expensive!

What have other people done for engravings? Thanks in advance for your help!

I had "Our lucky day" and our wedding date engraved. We got married on Friday the 13th, so it meant something to us. Unfortunately, his band is tungsten, which is apparently super hard to engrave, so you can hardly see it. Luckily it was free!

DH had my ring engraved with a few words from one of our readings. I had his engraved with the name of our first song.

FW and I are having ours engraved with parts of Ruth 1:16 -- "where you go, I will go," for hers, "your people will be my people" for mine, because it's a classic conversion story and also is often referenced as a Biblical example of love between women. (Not that I'm a woman, but I'm not a man either, and I spent long enough thinking I was a woman that Happy Lesbians is still meaningful to me as a trope.)

Is there a story that particularly resonates with the two of you? Or maybe something you want to say in response to his "from my heart"?

Thank you all for your responses! They're definitely helping to get the creative juices flowing. Love the Ruth 1:16 verse @they/them pigeon, and a response to "from my heart."

I'm going to get "Love never fails" engraved inside FH's wedding band. Smiley smile We love this line, from 1 Corinthians 13:8. It is at the very end of the "Love is patient, love is kind..." scripture.

A Bible verse is good, or a phrase from your first dance/favorite song. My dad has "Forever and ever. Amen" engraved in his.

DH is Brazilian and traditionally they engrave the name of their spouse inside their rings. I thought that was too boring so I had true love in Portuguese and our initials engraved inside both of our rings. So they read "R&H Amor Verdadeiro"

I am going to have my FHs ring engraved with the name of our first dance song because it has a lot of meaning and most likely our wedding date as well. I am not going to tell him this until after the ceremony so that he will be surprised.

We had ours engraved with our couple name and our first date date. We didn't have much room at all but it's meaningful for us.
