Wedding rings and overseas honeymoon---to take or leave

Is there anyone else thinking about leaving their rings at home? Even if you don't have an expensive ring, there is sentimental value that cannot be replaced. My ring is insured but ideally, you don't want to have to make that claim. I told FH I was considering leaving the diamonds at home and...

My ring is insured but ideally, you don't want to have to make that claim.

I told FH I was considering leaving the diamonds at home and wearing a plain $25 band in Belize.

Am I being paranoid? Thoughts and opinions please.

Hmm. I haven't thought about this. I will most likely just wear mine. I always have it on. I'd consider getting a fake set, but I have really small fingers and usually can't buy rings at dept stores. I guess that I could leave them at home....something to talk to Fh about.

Ooooh, interesting bag! Slashproof. Thank you!

Yeah my dad bought me that undershirt belt thing before I left for India - I was really young and he made me promise I would wear it every day. I lasted 5 seconds with that dumb thing before it gave me a heat rash. Not to mention it's totally dweeby and obvious when you actually go to dig for it. I just wore a regular crossbody purse after the first day (like, a hempy hippie one) and I didn't have any issues at all.

I'm more worried about pickpockets in super crowded touristy places where people might actually bump into me - like museums and such. But I've never had those nasty encounters like you've had.

Do you know what your room safe is like? Some hotels overseas have safes that can be picked up and carried away, which kind of seems like it defeats the purpose. Smiley smile

No mention of a safe on the website. I don't think it'll be anything besides the carry away one. We always find a hiding place for stuff and usually decline room service most days.
