Question for the ladies and men!

I see a lot of people on Facebook and such talking about different style rings (None traditional) so no diamonds, etc. it's seems as though there is a wave of people who don't want expensive or traditional rings these days.

What are you views on this?

If you don't mind what is you ring price or range, and what did you expect price wise?

Just curious on people's views about prices and stones. Thanks in advance!

Whatever you get, be sure you love it. why have a ring sit in a box in a drawer?

Well, TBH i had no issues with anything. I wanted a diamond with a pave halo, but i also didn't give my FH too much direction. I've loved everything he's picked out for me and i think he has excellent taste, so even if he proposed with something else, i knew it would have been very thoughtful and intentional.

I absolutely love my ring, it's perfect for me. Price was around 13k. I certainly appreciate that many people wouldn't pay that for a ring but it was his decision, I wasn't involved.

I told my FH that I didn't want a diamond ring. Mostly because I wanted something different and blue is my absolute favorite color. PPs are correct that sapphires can definitely cost the same if not more than diamonds, especially if the stone is a good color and has very few flaws. Luckily I did not want a big stone, and the diamonds on the sides were taken from a family ring, so FH spent a reasonable amount. I think the ring is worth $4,000 but he ended up paying a lot less because his family used the jeweler.

My stone came from the jewelers diamond mine in Canada which made us feel better about the ethics behind it. When we went shopping neither of us thought twice about getting anything other than a diamond. Now that I've seen so many gorgeous moissanite stones I think if I knew about it I would have consider it but I doubt my husband would have done anything but a diamond. I picked out my entire set and I love it. It was around $16k.

Those are all gorgeous! How does everyone feel about the men's band matching the wedding set ? Is this still common or not so much?

    Hi Everyone,

I am getting engaged in Feb next year and really confused about the engagement ring whether to go for a diamond ring or solitaire. I recently visited few stores in Austin like saatchijewelry.com/collections/ring and liked their collection but still want to try more.

Any suggestions , if you can help me out.

    Thanks Smiley smile

I have a non-traditional ring. It’s a custom made 3.7 carat yellow sapphire set in white gold. I don’t know the exact price, but I know it was under 4K.

I didn't want traditional so I went with a pear shape. Mine was from Adiamore online (Rare Carat) and my fiance spent a $4200 on a 1.45 diamond.

I told FH several times over the years that I wanted a white sapphire instead of a traditional diamond.

The main reason being the price, i just couldn't justify spending that much money on a tiny little rock .Especially since I cannot tell the difference at all. He did some research and found that the stone I had chosen was very soft and doesn't hold up as well over time(They tend to get very cloudy).

He tried going to pawn shops to get a used diamond ring but none of them really grabbed his eye and they were just as expensive as going to the Jewler.

He ended up getting me a 1.08 carat diamond, with 14 accent diamonds in the band. I have no idea what he spent, but I know if I found out I would be mad about it lol.

However I absolutely love this ring and I will never take it off.

One of the points he made to justify it was that aside from the photos, the rings are the only thing from the wedding We will actually keep forever.

I love colored gemstones and colored diamonds more than the regular diamonds, but all are beautiful. I knew I wanted a halo, but I had no idea what size would look best on my hand since I've never had a ring before. I didn't get to try rings on since I have fat fingers. I wanted a blue sapphire, but I got a blue diamond b/c the jeweler said it was cheaper. The rings look comical on my hands since my hands are large and the rings are tiny. I didn't want to appear greedy to my H, so I told him rings under $2000. My H definitely shouldn't have listened to me since now I'm left with rings I don't care for. My rings don't scream married woman to me, looks more like a ring for a girl.

.34 blue diamond, and super thin tiny bands for about $4000 just for my rings, but I truly feel since we weren't educated about jewelry we got ripped off. For the price my H paid I believe the rings should be bigger.

I collect rocks, have since i was a kid. It is truly a part of who i am. I have never liked diamonds, of the gemstones out there ive felt it to be rather an ugly stone in comparison. Ive had 3 past bfs ask for my hand in marriage, all with rings that werent "me".....my current bf, fiance, took a seemingly unspecial rock that he had picked up from one of our many hikes we take and had it set in a ring for me..it couldnt be more perfect! Its rough around the edges, not flashy, its a rock! There are diamonds on the band, so it has some sparkle, but he knew what i would want to look at on my hand daily....he knows me...i couldnt be more happy with our untraditional engagement ring. FH and I lovingly refer to diamonds as "pretty compressed coal" as both have eerily similar chemical balances. While I wholly understand that coal had to be hyper compressed for roughly **** years to achieve it, the price difference between them just doesn't make sense to me. When we proposed to each other, he said that we could get a ring if I really wanted to, but we just haven't.
