Wedding Role for Daughter`

Jerica, on September 24, 2021 at 10:56 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8

What can your daughter role be in a wedding when you don't want her to be a bridesmaid? She is 20. I don't want her to be a host neither.

She could escort you down the aisle, do a reading during the ceremony, give a speech during the reception

If it is a religious ceremony, any typical bible verse or reading. If it is a civil ceremony, then really anything about love, or your relationship, or a simple quote from the internet. You could probably google typical wedding readings and I'm sure something will come up.

You could also simply just have her walk in the processional by herself. I know she's not a bridesmaid, but that would still include her and honor her.

I'm trying to think about things you can do in a wedding. Could she sing you a song in the ceremony? Could she carry the rings? Could she sign the certificate with you? Smiley smile

Since we don't know why you are thinking not a bridesmaid, it is difficult to make a suggestion. Because to me, the most appropriate role for an adult child is in the bridal party. Jobs I personally hate and think border on insulting to the person are: guest book attendant, host, usher, honorary anything and set up/tear down.

just my opinion. It's your day and your relationship, so you would know best.

I’ve seen grandmothers toss petals and it’s very sweet. Perhaps your daughter could do the same. Many only view it as a child’s role only because that’s what we always see. But it doesn’t have to be any certain age. However, I’d use a basket without a handle, as it feels a little more mature.

I totally agree with you. My 21 year old is a bridesmaid & my 16 year old is a junior bridesmaid because I would NEVER leave her out. The 16 year old is walking down by herself but she's gonna be right there with me & her sister.
