Wedding Rules

Tiffany, on January 13, 2021 at 2:42 PM Posted in Planning 1 71

Hey guys,

My wedding is set up for 7/10/21 and I was thinking to ask my guest to get tested for COVID 2-3 days prior to the wedding and send me and my fiance the results. Is that asking to much? I want to keep all of my guest and family safe and dont feel like it bad to ask. We are only allowed 50 guest only and are just family and friends.

I think it’s overstepping and very unrealistic. And even if they test negative, they could still have or contract the virus in that timeframe. Your best bet is to assume that everyone has the virus and follow the proper precautions.

I agree with Caytlyn. Even if they were to take the test 72-48 hours prior to the wedding, they could still contract the virus in between that time. I also know my mom was looking at getting a Covid test to visit me since I live in another state and it would've been $150 just for her so I think it would be unfair to you expect every guest to pay for a Covid test.

Yea i don't think it's realistic. some people can still get covid in between the time they wait for results. and some people may not have the time to be able to go get tested

I agree with this. I would not attend a wedding right now while the virus is still as active as it is, especially when many do not take it seriously. But I would decline if the couple said there had to testing beforehand because that is overstepping and doesn't actually prevent that person from possibly spreading it to someone else, hence the many cases in the news. Couples who require proof of a test administered are violating HIPAA

Didn't know the testing was so much money

Also if I recall correctly, weren't a few of the nationally reported superspreader weddings taking place shortly after tests were given and people still got sick who didn't even attend and it was traced back to the weddings themselves?

Hi! I do agree with these responses: however Depending on how many people you are trying to invite, there are ways to make a covid minded wedding happen. We are doing things like: outdoor wedding, mask favors, ample spacing, etc. our venue said we can do temp readings at the door if desired as well.
Although the testing method may not work, don’t get yourself down. You still have almost 6 months to see how the pandemic starts looking by then.
    Good luck Smiley smile

I’m also a July bride, 7/30/21 over here! Instead of requiring tests, I’m going to let our guests know that the groom and I will be vaccinated and recommend that they do the same! I won’t require it, just gonna let them know that we strongly encourage it. By summer, hopefully anyone who wants a vaccine should be able to get one. I’m getting mine tomorrow Smiley smile

Oh! And we also are doing little hand sanitizers with our names on them. There are still creative ways to navigate. We also bought stickers for people with a heart on them. It basically means “ BACK OFF” juts really nice way to say it

Hey yes I'm definitely giving the mask and keeping the bigger room so we could space out more. Thank you and I wish you all the best of luck as well,
