Hey guys,

My wedding is set up for 7/10/21 and I was thinking to ask my guest to get tested for COVID 2-3 days prior to the wedding and send me and my fiance the results. Is that asking to much? I want to keep all of my guest and family safe and dont feel like it bad to ask. We are only allowed 50 guest only and are just family and friends.

Some test results aren’t rapid. I just took a test that states 24-72hours results. With that being said, you may want to request it a week in advance...

Also I had a kids bday party, had someone at the door checking temperatures and making everyone use sanitizer before entry... they also wore masks.

Testing at most community centers, hospitals, pharmacies like CVS, Walgreens are free. You may be required to pay at a private lab if you don’t have health Insurance

I know you are not. While there might be people turned off by the ask, there might also be people appreciative of your effort to create a safer setting for everyone. Smiley smile

Where are you located where testing is free? I have excellent insurance through United Healthcare and my insurance only covers testing if I'm personally experiencing Covid symptoms or if I've come into close contact with somebody who has tested positive. I recently had to produce a negative Covid test in order to visit my grandmother in her nursing home and Walgreens charged $200 (after insurance paid for 1/3, since the full cost was higher). I would gladly produce a required negative Covid test to attend someone's wedding if the test was no cost to me. Please tell me these community centers, hospitals, and pharmacies where folks can simply walk in and can get a free Covid test in order to attend someone's wedding...

I agree... I don't understand why it's too much to get tested for Covid? My state (NY) actually wants us to get tested as much as possible and there often isn't a cost. If guests don't want to do this, then they can participate via zoom. It's for their and everyone's benefit to have some sense of status. However, masks should still be used, regardless of status.

I don't think you are overstepping at all. We're in NY. I think most guests will agree and if they don't think that's ok too, they can participate virtually.

I agree that it is overstepping.....your intentions are good, but it is definitely a lot to ask people to get and provide proof of a negative test. I think it also takes away from the fact that this is a wedding and not some government or official gathering. I think it's also a little premature to make this decision 6 months in advance.....this pandemic has had so many ups and downs and changes daily. Hopefully with the spring/summer weather and the vaccine things will be looking up by then 🤞

I'm getting married 2/13/2021 and I understand how you feel and how nerve racking this is for all of us in these times not knowing the uncertain but having them get tested although that would be great is unrealistic. We're actually going to temp check and hand out masks and personalized hand sanitizers to all of our guests as they come in. Just going to pray for the best while trying to make everyone safe and comfortable as possible. Good luck to you Smiley smile

Yeah even if they were negative they can still catch it and not have symptoms between the test date and your wedding date if just make everyone wear masks and wash hands upon entering and in between thing and also have hand sanitizer available everywhere

I am personally using the mock up email letter wedding wire provided for COVID weddings and the first paragraph regards to testing. In my letter testing is recommended but not required. My family knows of this and are in agreement. So it depends on your guests. I don’t think it’s a problem to asks. We are not in normal times. Fo what will make you breathe easier and have less anxiety. No, testing is not a foul proof method, you can always get tested and get a false negative or contract it right after, but I see it as one more preventative measure. One I am sure your guests will be happy you are taking. Personally, my guests are very happy with how proactive my fiancé and I are being and transparent. We are letting them know our the PPE we are providing and everyone’s seating at Both the ceremony and reception, (this will ease their fears and let them know exactly what to expect to make their own decisions about attending) People have fears and rightfully so. Testing however is required for anyone getting hair and makeup especially with masks having to be off and my fiancé and I have high risk mothers. So it’s non negotiable. Listen to your gut, you and your fiancé will find what is best for you both. Good luck!

If I'm a guest and I have to get tested simply in order to attend your wedding, consider that my wedding gift to you. Covid tests can be expensive!

That’s very intrusive however you can ask them out of respect to monitor their symptoms and not come if they are ill or have been exposed in the last 3-5 days

I don’t blame you for wanting your guests tested...! However, it is difficult. My city just ran out of tests last week actually. I assume they restocked?! I dk. I think just put into play everything possible such as masks, sanitizer, plated meals, outdoor venue, and social distancing when able Smiley smile As far as the vaccine, they’re only saying it’s effective for up to 6 months now?! Ughhh.

I don’t like the idea of this. They can still pick up Covid in the time it takes them or wait for results. It’s also an invasion of health protected information. It’s also difficult to be tested without symptoms depending on their area and the tests may not be free if they’re asymptomatic I’m not sure. But overall no.
