Wedding set up and tear down for diy

Shannon, on January 23, 2019 at 10:21 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 12

I am trying to find a set up and tear down crew for my wedding ceremony and reception in Houston, Texas. I am hand making all my table centerpieces and have all tables, chairs, linens. I just need someone to come before the event, set up my table and alter decorations, tables and linens, and then tear down starting at 10:30pm. I really don’t want to ask my friends and family to perform this task. Any help is appreciated.

What about hiring a day of coordinator?

I am working with an extremely low budget, since my FH and I are paying for this ourselves. It’s hard to find room, financially, for a DOC. Plus all costs that I’ve seen for a DOC have been extremely high.

I have a DOC but it’s too much for one person. So I’m having my hostesses help set up which will be some extra hands before the wedding. My delimma is after the wedding. I don’t want friends or family after they’ve been drinking and having fun to clean up. So I’ve been thinking of hiring a cleaning company (you know... someone that does residental cleaning as their own business) to come for an hour or so after the wedding. I saw that idea on a forum here and thought it was genius! There’s so many out there that do cleanings by the hour and I’m sure wouldn’t mind making some easy money for something simple like packing up centerpieces and linens. Especially if I offer extra pay or something. Maybe you could look some up in your area too!?

And my “doc” is a family friend who just happens to be EXTREMELY organized and not necessarily an experienced wedding planner/coord. She’s doing it for almost nothing. If you have someone like that in your family to close to you.. wouldn’t hurt in asking! I would suggest it! Takes so much stress off of us as the bride (esp if you’re like me and have been extremely involved in planning process).

I’ve, down to the T, already planned everything, and my wedding is next year. It’s just trying to find this one service that almost seems non existent in Houston. I’ve found these services available in other states just not in Houston. So you’re talking about a maid service.. interesting. Have you found some that are willing to tear down at close to midnight ? My DOC I’m considering is my cousin so I have that part down. But I’m with you, I don’t want my intoxicated family to try and tear down my whole set up at 11 at night.

I found this on yhe the very first page and if they're posting on Craigslist they need work, so they might negotiate the price its worth a check

Do you know anyone in the area who has friends in college (or who is young) who may want to make a quick buck? You could probably hire them for cheap and if you get a few people it shouldn't take long. You would have to supervise their efforts but if money is too tight for a DOC this could work.
