Wedding shoes-CONVERSE :)

MrsBanks, on March 20, 2017 at 4:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 97

I cant walk in heels. Last time I tried was my highschool graduation, and i broke my toe haha. So our entire wedding party is wearing converse "chucks." Anyone else wearing shoes "out of the norm" for their wedding? Post your pics!!

I don't know what I'm doing yet, but in a wedding FH was best man in, the bride and MOH (no other bridesmaids) wore matching shoes and I thought they looked adorable.

FH is wearing his custom high tops I bought him a couple years ago that have his last name on the heel stripe. He's buying me low tops that will have Mrs. Hallmark on them, and we decided that I would change into those for the reception (once I am the Mrs. haha). For the ceremony (and nicer pictures), I guess I'll do some sort of white lacy flat.

My fiance and I will also most likely be wearing chucks. We met in high school 5 years ago and have always worn them. We even signed each other's shoes that first year we met, so converse definitely has a special place in our hearts!

If you're requiring specific shoes for your bridal party, you need to pay for them. Their only monetary requirement is a dress or tux/suit.

Thanks @bemyguest, I know that. Everyone is actually all paying for themselves. Their choices.

@OP except, no. You should not be asking them to pay for the shoes if you are requiring them- their "choice" or not. Literally no one chooses to spend money unless they feel obligated to, implied or otherwise. You should insist on paying for extra requirements, especially specific ones like chucks

I was just typing out a response almost identical to @vicki's... Converse are expensive, and regardless if they're "okay" with it (which they may not be, but they just aren't telling you) you need to pay for them. Or not require them.

Glitter heel is my ceremony shoe, pastel creepers will be my reception shoe (I just hope they're tall enough) xD

My sister had us all wear white sequined toms for her wedding. I fucking hated them and would have refused to wear them if I had to purchase them myself. But because she provided the shoes I sucked it up and wore them. I, of course, didn't say anything to HER about how much I hated the shoes. I just bitched to FH how uncomfortable they were.

Not everyone likes converse, but they also don't want to say no to the bride. Pay for the shoes.

I'm wearing Toms wedges and FH is most likely wearing his toms(well, new ones to look nicer but still). I think it's really cool to have everyone wear comfy shoes

Me and my FW will be wearing rainbow tie dyed high top converse, the actual color is called Unicorn Vomit.

I love this site, but I've noticed that there is almost always a disagreement in every thread. She didn't say anything about paying for the shoes she just wanted to if anyone else was wearing different shoes, yet it went off into "there is no way that the bridesmaids should be paying for their own". I am pretty sure she knows what she is doing. They are her friends and family. I've noticed this happen on a lot of posts.

And to everyone else, y'all don't know my life, or my wedding party. I asked them what type of shoes they WANTED to wear. Everyone said comfy. I suggested chucks because we ( B&G) were wearing them. Everyone either already had a pair, or is really freaking excited to be buying a special pair for our day. What you "think" I should do, really doesnt matter to me. K, thanks.

Oh I do have another shoe story! My sister (same one) is in her friends wedding the week before mine and she has been told they are wearing converse and she is not happy about it. She does not like the way they look or fit and last I heard she still doesn't know if she has to pay for them or if they are being provided. I seriously doubt she has said anything to her friends face about not liking the shoes as you just don't do that.

I'll be wearing flats and my bridesmaids can wear anything they want, just like with their dresses. My choice isn't that uncommon, but people have freaked out when I told them. Those same people have suggested I wear a shoe with even a little bit of a kitten heel since I am 4' 10" and my FH is 6', but no way. It's just way too uncomfortable to wear heels. I love the idea of wearing Converse! They're a great shoe, good idea.

Thanks Hannah! I like that idea too!! And @cutenickname they are, especially since they are shoes they wear often! FH and I have multiple pair, and all our wedding party do too. So I guess we made a good choice huh? I sure think so Smiley smile
