Wedding Shower

Mistylynn, on August 23, 2019 at 11:10 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 4

We are getting married in October 2020, so a little far in advance here, but we are thinking shower ideas!

I do not want a conventional shower, (from Chicago, IL - this means a banquet room usually, with a full meal/brunch, games, mimosas, open gifts - usually on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon.)

I am thinking maybe more wine tasting, tea? something different. Maybe on a Friday night? We have been brainstorming and falling short! anyone have any ides, or want to share what they have done that was different and fun!

Thanks!

I’m doing a brunch but I plan on having a paint date theme! Everyone will be painting for a theme, which I haven’t picked out yet. But, I’m hoping for that and maybe making flower crowns together!

A wine tasting would be fun! Maybe having a nice dinner out afterwards?

Wine tasting sounds more like a bachelorette activity than a shower, but could be fun. How many people are you thinking?

We had a coed shower because we had a destination wedding and knew a lot of people who couldn't make the wedding, men included, would want to come. We had a Sunday afternoon shower—1 pm - 4 pm and served heavy apps (oysters, shrimp cocktail, bacon wrapped scallops, Thai chicken spring rolls) and assorted flatbreads, pasta and chicken. We didn't open gifts and didn't play a single game. The closest thing to a trendy shower we did was a donut tower! It honestly just felt like a nice daytime party and not at all "showerish"
