How much do you buy into this wedding superstition ?
One belief that dates back to the Vikings (and is still held by many today) is that gifting a knife will cause your relationship to be severed. People get around this superstition by taping a penny to the blade (or in the box or card). The recipient can then return the penny as "payment" so that the knife is no longer considered a gift.
If someone gives you knives as a gift, will you be giving them back a penny to preserve the relationship?
