Wedding Tent Alternative

I am having a backyard wedding in March. I don't think I have to worry much about rain but I would like shade for the tables. However renting a tent is so expensive. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for alternatives. I've thought types of fabric but haven't been able to find much online. Granted I have only recently started searching. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

    What Sarah said. If you are having an outdoor event you need a tent.

    I agree with PPs, I can't think of a dependable alternative to a tent other than having an indoor wedding.

    Im having an outdoor wedding annnd.. yea we are getting a tent whether we like it or not lol if you want an outdoor wedding it is better you do get one at least to keep the food under the tents which is what im doing to keep some bugs away

    I have seen fabric between trees to provide shade but it is risky to assume you will not have rain. If it does rain, what is your plan?

    The only other thing I can think of is umbrellas ...but that doesn't seem very convenient

    I live in Naples, Florida. It's not too too cold. We will have an outdoor backyard wedding. Not an indoor one!!
