Wedding Thank note wording for someone who didn't attend??

DMN, on June 16, 2015 at 12:33 PM Posted in Married Life 0 5

The only hard part of writing Thank Yous has been running out of space thus far! Except for my sort of estranged Aunt and Uncle... I barely know them, I literally had to ask my dad what the names of their kids are(my 1st cousins). They are out of state and sent a card and a check for $20. For everyone else who just sent a card I incorporated something we had in common, a past conversation, or something that they would relate to... Well I'm stuck on this one.. So any ideas??

Thank you for the gift...we plan to use it on (whatever)...We missed you at our wedding. It was a great time, Aunt so and so danced the macarena and it was great. We look forward to seeing you soon.

@ ChristineKyle1108. I like the wording you found. The only thing I would change is "we appreciate the check you sent us as a wedding gift" instead of "we appreciate your gift". I've always been taught to include in the thank you note what I'm thanking them for. That way the giver knows that I know exactly what they gave us and that I'm thanking them specifically for what they gave.

I wrote something along the lines of thank you for the card and gift. I also think you should add how you plan to use the gift. We wrote that we plan to buy a house next year. You can also add something like: we are so happy that you thought of us on our special day.

I didn't know if I should put what we plan to use it for. They sent $20, which was extremely thoughtful, but I didn't want to be imply we put the $20 towards a house or a large purchase. It came off as rude to me? I could be wrong.

I was taught that you never say "check" or "money" it's always gift. I did put for some of the others that it went towards a car for our family.
