Wedding theme

Stephanie, on February 17, 2021 at 2:37 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 13
Hello!
Having my wedding in December in Florida. Having a hard time finding a theme. I don’t want to do winter wonderland because that’s so common.
Please help with ideas. I am thinking for my colors I would do white decorations, my bridesmaids will be in Terracota color.

I agree with Melle! You don't necessarily need a theme. In fact, you might figure out a theme as you're purchasing your decor! My fiance and I haven't officially picked a theme (and we don't really plan to), but a lot of our decor (vow books, guest book, escort cards, etc.) unintentionally follows a forest theme, so if we wanted to, we could later decide on officially declaring our theme as forest. You could look at decor for your wedding and pick out what you like best, and if a lot of it seems to match up to a theme, great! If not, you don't really need a theme.

Theme = colors, aesthetic, season, anything you want. They are all basically the same so people do have a theme even if use a different name.

It helps everything everything look cohesive rather than randomly thrown together.

Themes are totally unnecessary. If there’s not something that speaks to you and you feel strongly about, skip it.

I thought about doing the boho theme also but I am looking at all-white decors.

I think that is what we will do because the decorations for now are all white, the color might change as we do more shopping. Thank you for the idea though

I will go with the flow for now and let the colors speak to me maybe that will reveal my theme. Thank you, everyone, for the advice.

I love a neutral wedding palette! Stick with what you love, there doesn't have to be a theme attached! Maybe you can just add personal touches when the situation presents itself and just let the wedding be the wedding. You can add accents of your personality through decor, the menu, your attire or whatever speaks to you without having to turn it into a theme! Just do what feels right for you and your FS!

Themes just make it easier to coordinate items. This can be helpful to sort through the seemingly limitless items for a wedding (easy to look for "winter wonderland" invitations than to have to sort through 298,985,443 different invitations with no idea what you're looking for.) But it certainly should not be something to complicate your planning! If you have a visual/mental picture of what you want without a theme, that is absolutely fine, too.

That said, if you want some themes that go well with terracotta - boho and geometric come to mind. (Think like patterns in terracotta pottery.)

I wanted to do dusty rose and navy blue as well but then the colors changed. I’m thinking of just letting things fall into place and go from there.

    Themes are super personal.

Our theme was our baseball team and theatre, because those are the things we love.

    But themes are entirely optional.
