Wedding Timeline

Miki, on February 26, 2022 at 8:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 2
Hi! I’m getting married in July of this year, but I have no clue what the timeline is of the week before the wedding, the rehearsal, the wedding itself, or the reception after. We only have the venue for one day, so a rehearsal dinner is out of the question. Anything helps - thanks!

You don't have to have a ceremony rehearsal, but some do morning, day of. If you do have a rehearsal, you should feed your wedding party for their time. If you don't have a rehearsal, you can still have a welcome party the day before for out of town guests, hosts, wedding partt, etc. Sometimes this is when caregivers meet, and/or gifts from the couple are given. Some couples have their bachelor/ bachelorette party days before, but this may be exhausting, and you may look bloated/ exhausted. But, these parties are optional as well.

Your venue will tell you what time/day you can drop off decor, etc, including what time vendors can set up. They will suggest ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception times.

We don't have a ton planned the week leading up to our wedding. I'm actually going to be working Monday & Tuesday. I'll have off Wednesday thru the end of the following week for the wedding and mini-moon. On Wednesday, I'm planning on finalizing any last minute details I need to, a lot of my immediate family is going to be coming to town this day so I'm going to host a dinner for both of our immediate families to get to know each other. On Thursday, I'm treating myself and my sister to a massage (she'll have a 3 month old baby, so a quick break would be great) and spending time with people in town for the wedding. At some point Thursday I also have to go to the hotel to deliver welcome bags for our room block guests. Friday morning I'll be getting my nails done, I'm also going to treat myself to a blowout & style at a salon near me before the rehearsal. Then we're checking into our hotel (only my FH is staying there the night of the rehearsal, but I'm putting my wedding night bag, post wedding water bottles, snacks, etc). Then we have the rehearsal at our venue, and my FMIL is planning the rehearsal dinner. Then we're planning on hanging out in the lounge at the hotel to spend a little time with our guests. Myself and most of my bridesmaids will be driving back to my house and having a sleepover there, so that we're all already there and ready for when hair & makeup arrive on the morning of the wedding day (the other 2 aren't staying bc they live nearby).

We're delivering any decor items that we're providing on the rehearsal day, I meet with the coordinator before the rehearsal to go over placement but I'm type A and will likely have made a map/table pic to help guide the staff. We're mainly only providing the guest book table stuff, some signs, a few florals, our sweetheart table decor and table numbers. Our florist and venue provide everything else we want.
