Wedding Transportation

Helen, on February 17, 2021 at 10:42 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13
I have a bridal party of 4 girls on my side and 4 guys on my fiancé’s side. 10 of us total. I need advice and tips for wedding transportation that would be affordable. Do we do a car rental? Uber? A car transportation company? A party bus? Do I order two different ones? Do I have just one? I need help!

Thanks in advance!

Is your ceremony in a different place from your reception? I would probably look at price comparisons for a limo vs a party bus.

What do you need the transportation for? To get to the venue or to get back?

Definitely shop around pricing. Keep in mind that some places may have a minimum number of hours that you must pay for. For reliability, I would consider booking something in advance, rather than relying on Uber being immediately available at the time you need them. If there was a wait, your timeline may fall out of plan. It may be cheaper to rent one bigger bus than two smaller buses, but it also depends on the company. I would check pricing on all options, and then go from there to decide which one best fits what you're looking for.

So all of my wedding is at one location. I’ll try and explain this as best as I can. I have a shuttle (35 passenger) booked for 2 separate 3 hour time blocks.

Block 1: shuttle picks up me, bridesmaids, my parents at the hotel where we are getting hair and makeup done and dropping us at venue where I will put on my dress and take some pics with my girls. In the meantime the shuttle will then go to my FH parents’ house and get him, groomsmen, and his parents and bring them to venue. We will then do our first look and photos. The shuttle will then go to the hotel and pick up guests staying at the block.
Block 2: shuttle will make 3 runs bringing guests and bridal party (and us!) back to hotel.

Are you all staying at a hotel? Does the hotel have a shuttle? Otherwise a link or bus and shop around for the best price.

So we just had a shuttle that transported everyone (guests included) between the hotel and the venue. Maybe that could be an option?

We did not offer Any to our bridal and groom party Just because everyone lives at different places and everyone had to leave at different times so I think that’s definitely something to coordinate with your party for her because it might not work for everyone but like someone said you can always hand out coupon codes for Uber or Lyft

I got some quotes for a limo or bus but they had a $200-$250 minimum and I only need to go a couple miles with my bridal party from our salon to the venue. I decided to use Uber Black, which is the luxury Uber. Uber lets you preschedule a ride a few days in advance, and you can also check pricing on their app. For the 2 mile or so drive I needed, its about $45 for an Uber Black XL which will hold my whole party, so its a way better price than the transportation companies. We are not providing transportation after the event because my FH and I would be leaving on our own and people might want to walk to nearby bars after.

My fiancé and I are getting a party bus for our wedding party transport from the hotel to the venue. My maid of honor and I are being driven to the venue by my nephew in a luxury car and and my fiancé is being driven to the venue by his best man. Our transportation will be one way because our entire wedding party will have significant others or family members at the wedding to ride back home with.

We only had one venue, but found it was best to have a limo take myself, my dad, my stepmom, and my MOH from where I live to the venue, and then have the limo go pick up DH, his parents, and his side of the BP and take them to the venue.

Limos are super pricey, so keep that in mind.

My MOH and her hubby drove us home, because they are the most amazing people in the world. (My dad and stepmom *did an after party at a bar with my dad's frat brother and his wife*, and took the train home. This still cracks me up. DH and I were *done* and my parents wanted to party more.)
