Wedding veil tips

Amanda, on July 8, 2018 at 3:25 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11
So, I decided I just couldn’t live with myself if I bought a veil when it was so cheap to make my own. I wanted to do a chapel length with blusher... raw edge tulle (I actually got some gorgeous English netting).. who has tips?? I’m struggling with how wide I should make it. I made a test one and it looks.. weird. Help, ladies! I only have a week to make it!

I'm making my own as well. There are lots of videos on YouTube and other great tips online. Just Google DIY wedding veil. For me it's been a lot of trial and error also. But for less than $10 in supplies, I'm okay with making a few mistakes before i get it just right. I've tried various lengths, widths and clips, barettes, Bobby pins. Play around until you get it right for you.

    From the internet:

"A 54 inch wide veil will fall behind your shoulders and be sheer enough to show off your gown. This width is a great option for gowns with decorative sleeves or straps.
A veil in 72 inch width will offer moderate height with a more romantic feel than a 54" width. If you are thinking of wearing a spaghetti strap dress, this width is a good option because it offers coverage around the arms.
A veil that has a 108" width provides fullness on top. A great option if you are thinking of wearing a strapless gown, and would like to have coverage around your shoulders and arms."

You could also try looking for a pattern online that will give you specific measurements.

My seamstress made mine for $20, it was very basic, which is what I wanted. It had a blusher that I didn't use but it added to the fullness, I didn’t want to just look like a tail hanging down from my head. I tried to measure and it seems to be around 45 inches wide. I hope this helps, I included a close-up of the comb and one of my favorite pictures we've gotten back so far with me wearing it. Good luck!!

Pinterest has some really great tutorials! I found this one to be pretty helpful: https://www.bybrittanygoldwyn.com/2015/02/how-to-make-a-bridal-veil-diy/

Do you have any family or friends who are crafty? My plan is to make my own but if I fail, my aunt is an amazing seamstress and I'm going to see what she can do.

Wow, go you! I would never even dream of making my own veil. Bought mine when I got my dress at Kleinfelds. I would watch youtube videos, use google and pinterest for help.
