Wedding Veil

Joshua, on January 3, 2012 at 5:22 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

My fiance and I have three kids, we are going to have a big wedding and she wants to wear a veil. My mom said it is not apporpriate for her to wear a veil because she is not a virgin. I don't want to see her in a veil if it is not proper

Times have changed. Virgins technically are the only ones who are supposed to wear white, but that would mean that most brides nowadays wouldn't be able to. It's not your mother's wedding. You guys have 3 kids. It's a little late to be thinking of what's supposedly improper now. If your fiancee wants a veil let her have one.

Pan is completely correct. Its her wedding, I personally HATE the lore behind the veil and wouldnt wear one if someone paid me!

Is this for real? Why would you as her fiance say you wouldn't want to see her in a veil if it's not proper? Shouldn't you be supporting her and what she wants, just as I'm sure she has supported you and what you want...not to mention raise your 3 children? wow. I'm actually quite bothered by this thread.

....In that case, I hope she's not wearing a white gown. Seriously, times have changed. That's kind of mean to tell the mother of your 3 children that she can't have what she wants on her wedding day because she decided to give it up to you before you put the ring on her finger.

Why don't you just sew "slut" on the front of her dress in red lettering.

Sunshine, I think it would be more appropriate for the dress to say,

"The white dress was not popularized until the 1800s, and it was a symbol of wealth, not purity. The purity thing was kinda so totally made up. Also, I hope this is a long dress because it's going to take forever to put all this embroidery on here."

What does your mom have to do with the wedding? Isn't your fiancée the bride?

    Well, alrighty then, Norman Bates.
I truly, hope you didn't get married, because those words are just vile.
If you did, I pray you treat her like a queen and allowed her to wear a gorgeous veil.
