Wedding venue issues

Sarah, on December 10, 2020 at 3:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 17
So my fiancé and I picked out a wedding venue before Covid, we had a wedding date and everything. Now due to unforeseen events we want to change our wedding date. We called the venue a few weeks back and the receptionist said she would pass my message onto the event coordinator. It has been a month and I have not heard anything. I keep calling during office hours, no one answers, I leave messages (no one calls me back), I went and visited the venue during the receptionists office hours today and no one was there. It seems ever since my states governor gave new restrictions, the receptionists have not been at the venue. I don’t know if I should stick it out or shop other venues?

That is frustrating! Do you have contact info for the event coordinator? If so, try reaching out to that person directly and see if you have better luck getting a response (as opposed to trying to get the receptionists to reply). Otherwise, maybe try contacting the venue through social media? If you haven't paid a deposit yet, I'd probably move on to a new venue, since their communication isn't great. If you already paid the deposit, I'd try a few more ways to get in contact with them before moving on.

They're probably working from home during this time or possibly laid off. Do you not have an email for the coordinator?

If it's been a month with no contact from anyone, start looking elsewhere asap. Try eventective.com

I was contacting them to get the event coordinator’s information. I already put a deposit on the place.

That sounds frustrating. If you find another venue will the initial venue give you a refund? I would still try them until the covid restrictions have lifted a bit.

I was never given the information for the event coordinator. That is why I was calling to get it.

I have no idea if I will get a refund or not. I need to get the new date scheduled so I can inform my guests of the new wedding date.

I understand, I would probably look into a new venue, I would just want to make sure that they would issue a refund if you do that.

Do they have social media? Maybe try reaching out on their Facebook or Instagram? You may get some community responses there.
I’m sorry your going through this. Also try searching online you maybe be able to find a cell number for someone.

I would have a back up idea just in case, hopefully they're just out of office because of Covid

Have you looked at their website and called any other staff? I often have to do that for work - lots of times that gets me a very quick response.

I'd try to find a new venue ASAP. If you've tried to reach out multiple times and it's been a whole month, that's not a good sign.

I looked on the website to see if they list their event coordinator on there. They don’t, they pretty much only have the number for the receptionists and an email address.

I would start looking. Document the times & frequency you’ve attempted to contact them in case you have to take them to court.

I’d try emailing or contacting them via social media, as the office personnel are most likely all working from home and, therefore, have limited access to venue phone lines or voicemail. Typically even if you email the wrong department or person, they will forward it to where it needs to go! Also, did you get a contract when you paid your deposit? You will need to read it closely to see their rescheduling policies!

We are able to reschedule up to a month before the event. The problem is trying to get the contact info for the event coordinator.
