Going on my first wedding venue tour today! Super excited about the venue, any questions I should ask? I don’t want to miss anything!

Ask what all is included and how many hours does the rental fee cover (it varies!)! Hope this helps!

There's definitely a lot of questions to ask. I googled "questions to ask wedding venues" and that should give you a good idea of questions. I don't remember everything, but things like guest minimum and maximum, if there's noise restrictions, what dates they have available, if they partner with any vendors, parking, etc.

Venue tours can be so fun! Ask them about things like:

-How many hours would we have the venue for?

    -What are your cancellation/postponement policies?

-Do you have a bridal suite to get ready in on the day of the wedding?

-What is all included with the package? (Tables/chairs, catering, decor, etc)

-What upgrade options are available? (Chair types, uplighting, late night snack, etc)

-What is the maximum capacity? Does that number include vendors? Is there a minimum number of guests that we must have?

-What is the deposit amount? And what forms of payment do you accept?

-When does the final payment need to be made?

-What staff members will be on site on the day of the wedding? What will their responsibilities be?

-Do you have any preferred vendors? Do we have to use them, or can we hire vendors not on the list?

-What is the parking situation like?

-Will our wedding be the only wedding at this venue on that day? Or does your venue host multiple weddings on the same day?

I was very excited to go see the venues that we had chosen and my very last venue was all that I wanted did need to much decor. Well it's that every one have giving you just about anything except. What time will we have access to the venue to set up the day of the wedding because sometimes it can be a few hours because they probably had a event the day before and need to have there clean up crew their. And about if you baker if not provided can get in to bring your wedding cake. Happy venue hunting have fun

I would search up questions to ask, there's definitely things you would never think of but it's important. I bought a wedding planner book and in one of the sections is the reception venue and it's got interview-type questions about their venue and what it entails. It helps to have those details for when you pick your venue. or you can simply search for questions online and print them out and bring with you.

Make sure to ask about cancellation/postponement policies, since the pandemic a lot of venues have had to modify policies. While you don't want anything to happen, it is better to at least have an option if needed.

A few things we wished we would have considered (not specifically questions) were the proximity to major airport, transportation options (like is uber readily available), and hotels/restaurants/bars/activities in the area. We picked a venue that we absolutely love and have been amazing to work with, but both us and our guests are spending extra because it's an hour away from the closest airport, there isn't a shuttle from the airport to the hotel (so guests are having to pay huge uber fees or rent cars) or the hotel to venue (we're providing one during the wedding, but that's an extra $2000 out of our pockets). There's limited hotels in the area and ubers are very few and far between in that area. There aren't a lot of things to do in the town either.

Decor they have on hand? Our venue has a whole storage area of extra decor that we are free to use.

    Handicap accessible?

    Weather protocol?

How many guests do they recommend fit COMFORTABLY at a table? My catering coordinator who works exclusively with the venue kept it real with me and said they will tell me they can fit 10 to a table but in all honesty the guests are shoulder to shoulder. This helped me make the decision of 8 to a table.

If it's in a small town, noise ordinance? When does the music need to be shut off?

Do they require a day of coordinator? If so, do they have one on staff or a preferred vendor?

I'm sure you will think of some while you are taking the tour :-)
