Wedding venue suggestions

Deb, on September 2, 2020 at 7:00 PM Posted in Texas Planning 0 15
My fiancé and I are trying to find a venue that will do both (ceremony and reception) and they must allow outside catering because my mother-in-law and I are allergic to similar types of foods.

Would love suggestions around Lewisville, The Colony, Frisco, Plano, Allen and McKinney locations.
Budget is minimum of 5,000 and can stretch it out to 6,500 (if needed) for everything.
PLEASE HELP!!!

    Erin,

What do you mean by “fire halls”?

Once upon a time, especially in Pennsylvania, fire hall weddingreceptions were the standard. Fire halls, so called because they were owned and operated by the local fire department to raise extra money, are nothing more than large banquet spaces perfect to rent for parties.

Good to know. Didn’t know anything about that. Perhaps, my brother might know something in Plano, Tx since he is a firefighter and all. Thanks so much

A fire hall wedding is basically a wedding held in a venue that is a multi-purpose space. It's basically just a dance floor, tables, chairs and sometimes a stage.

Fire halls are like community centers rented out for social events. In some smaller towns they are owned and operated by fire depts. In larger cities they are owned by the parks dept but serve the same purpose as a banquet type hall where you can bring in all your own vendors.

I know these are far but affordable and beautiful.

Dallas Arboretum. This venue looks expensive but it actually can be under 2k if in non peak price range for both ceremony and reception
There are free/affordable options in Texas and consider parks, brick, the dallas heritage village, historic court houses, etc

Chapel Dulcinea is free in Austin and it's one of the top ten most beautiful wedding venues in the USA. Downside is it's micro wedding small and 4 hours away.

Someone I knew got married at Haggard Park in downtown Plano! I think it is quite a beautiful space and I attended a dickens fair previously there. I know a lot of parks allow you to bring in outside food and are affordable.

I know it's a little further out but Fort Worth Botanical Gardens is very beautiful and has ceremony and reception space. I contacted them a few months ago before I chose my venue and they allowed outside catering and weren't too expensive, while having a beautiful outdoor space.

The venue I chose, La Cour in Mckinney, has an opt out fee of $300 I believe to bring in your own vendors and their booking cost is within your price range. It's a gorgeous venue in the countryside and a lot of decor and stuff is included in the booking fee. And to be honest, a lot of their approved vendors can make things for you if you have specific allergies. Our caterer that we went with is on the approved list and they are accommodating our vegan guests.

I don't know your area, but I wouldn't rule out venues with in house catering. Just make sure you're able to speak with someone from the catering company/department so you know they've received allergen training (like ServSafe Allergen) and have experience working with your specific allergies. I live in MA which has a lot of food safety/allergen rules, so I might be starting off in a slightly safer place, but I have experience in food service so I knew what to look for and I feel confident that my friends and relatives with life threatening food allergies will be safe eating the food from our venue's in house caterer at our wedding reception.

One Preston Event Venues it in Gunter,TX is awesome. You can have the ceremony and the reception in the same place. They have a cute chapel, but they also have an amazing gazebo.
