Wedding venues giving very vague pricing, can’t figure out how much it will be..

Jennifer, on May 19, 2021 at 1:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
Has anyone else had this problem? I am trying to plan a destination wedding and the places are giving me very very arbitrary pricing or not wanting to give me pricing. How do I deal with this? I am having a hard timing figuring out how much things will cost. Thanks so much Smiley smile

They typically provide a sample packet with various different guest counts and line items. Depending on the venue if they serve food and also provide decor, you’re going to want to get a sample packet of the pricing for that as well. If they can’t provide that info then take my advice and do not sign a contract with them! Keep in mind It’s very difficult for vendors to give a rough estimate off the top of their heads because something like serving steak versus chicken versus wooden farm tables versus regular banquet tables can be the difference of thousands. But they certainly should still be providing you with a rough sample packet to get an idea, Along with any other standard charges like service fees and administrative fees etc.

They definitely need to give you accurate pricing, even if it's a booklet like mentioned above. Every venue I toured provided us some kind of booklet with pricing for each package, as well as optional upgrades like alcohol, desserts, higher priced meals, etc. If the venues are not providing that, I would suggest emailing them with a specific list of what you are looking for, and directly ask for a quote. For example "I am trying to figure out the pricing for your venue to see if its a good fit. Could you please provide me with the most accurate quote possible for a ceremony and reception with 80 guests, a plated meal, open bar, and dessert, and any tax or service fees?" or something like that. Definitely don't sign a contract until you have a hard copy of what you are expected to pay.

Are you looking at all inclusive places or blank slates? Call or email and ask for pricing for a wedding. Ask what dates are available, what do they offer for that price? Is there anything hidden that they will surprise you with (all inclusive venues do this with food/beverages)? Find out if you can switch anything out if you don’t need it.

If they don’t provide it or they continue to be vague, move on.
