I too am a visual person. I found that Pinterest helps with building the vision. Not quite exactly how it will turn out, but an ideal way to get what you want in boards all together. If you are tech savvy and have the skills, maybe think of using photoshop to tweak colors to what you want a certain thing to look like.

If not and if you're into physically having ideas on hands, find images from magazines and cut outs and make a binder to gather those ideas.

Are you having your ceremony and reception at the same venue? You don’t have to have both locations match perfectly, but having them compliment each other and sticking to a general color scheme can really help pull them together.
