Has anyone ever started planning a wedding, put deposits down, then changed their mind and just gone to the courthouse or done a small wedding with just witnesses? Do you regret it? I'm considering it, but I'm afraid I'll regret not having the wedding that I have always dreamed I'd have.

@OP-having a weekday wedding will cut your guest list down. There are many brides here who wish they had done a smaller wedding. If you focus too much on the party, you are focusing on the wrong thing.

How about doing both I don't know if it is legal to go to courthouse and then in your big day have a ceremony too

Yes. But I think mine comes from stress. We are buying a house & planning a wedding so I've been extremely overwhelmed. But...I don't want to miss out on our wedding.

I know people who regret having a courthouse wedding. I also know those that don't regret. that being said, its all in the way you approach it. Those that I know that that willfully chose a courthouse wedding from the beginning do not regret it. The ones that I know that do regret it always have some lingering factor that dampens their perception of their wedding as a whole.. usually an unplanned pregnancy, or a deployment.

Based of of your words, I feel like *you* would regret it, otherwise you wouldn't have asked. You have to decide for yourself.
