Wedding wagon for baby

Elena, on June 8, 2016 at 9:08 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 19

Hi,

My wedding will be July 16th, We have a 7 month old baby who will be baptized that same day, and I am going to have her pulled by an 8 year old boy down the aisle on a white wooden wagon. I am trying to decorate it, I haven't really loved any of the ideas from

Pinterest or other sites. Wondering if any of you have done something similar and you could share pictures for inspiration. Thank you!

Ive seen these on pinterest. Its cute but make sure your venue allows it. Mine will not allow any child to be carried, pushed, pulled, or otherwise forced down the aisle in the processional.

If they do then I have always thought the more simple the decorations the better. Consider filling the wagon with soft white blankets and maybe a few ribbons to soften the overall look.

Don't do this unless the baby is in a car seat or strapped in with a seat belt. A 7 month old child will not have the trunk stability to sit up in a moving wagon. Also, she will be distracted by all the people and things going on and may be frightened. Have someone carry her in arms if it's important to have her come down the aisle.

ETA: As a mom, I would not allow my baby to be pulled by another child in a wagon. My 3 year old pulls his other 3 year old friends in the wagon - supervised and in short spurts, but they are all big kids.

I agree with having someone carrry her down the aisle.

I know so little about babies.... I didn't realize they wouldn't be able to stay sitting at 7 months. Good point from the above posters. OP I would definitely look at a bridesmaid carrying the baby instead or a white baby buggy, like the 1950's old school style. The baby would be safe in that and laying down. Plus they are cute as is, no need to decorate.

My baby sits perfectly, and also the wagon will have a seat belt, I would never risk her safety. We already practiced with my cousin( the boy) pulling her at home and it worked very nicely. I am going to attach a picture, with the wagon unfinished of course

Keep in mind that you are having another CHILD pull it. A child who may be erratic and not pay attention. Also, you did it in a familiar environment, what is it going to be like with lots of people around in an unfamiliar space. You are putting your vision above your child's safety.

Stencil some flowers on it, or maybe her name. Tie some ribbons around the wheel spokes.

How would you feel about having the boy's mother walk beside him? Just in case he gets overwhelmed or the noise and crowd frighten the baby? Just speaking as a guest, I would be really alarmed to see a scared, crying baby being pulled down the aisle by another child with no adult involvement.

Agreed, this makes me very nervous. As a parent I would never allow my baby to be pulled in this by another child.

OP, I have a five month old and if she was a great sitter and being pulled by a well behaved child then I would be okay with this too. If your nephew is a wild one, probably not. You know him best. The aisle is probably? a short straight line and if your baby is strapped in, you'll be fine. As for decor, I would just use soft white blankets as PP mentioned and a few of your wedding flowers

My cousin is very well behaved but I am having the God Mother of my baby( who is the boys mom) walk beside them, just in case

We covered our wagon in bows. The 8 month old nephew was in front of the 15 month old. One dad pulled and the other one walked behind. My 8 year old nephew was a bell ringer because we did not want him pulling the babies down. We would not have sat the 8 month old in the wagon unless he was able to sit up unassisted.

If you insist though, have her walk behind the wagon. She can see the wagon going crooked or the baby potentially sliding better that way.

Did you make the wagon? It's nice I've been hunting for one cheaper than $400. Where did you find yours if you don't mind?

I bought this same wagon on wayfair but it’s SO wobbly!! How did you get it to where it wasn’t so wobbly? Does the weight of the child help?

Im pretty sure that’s the one in the picture. I bought this same wagon to have my six week old carried down in but I havent painted it or added any safety measures to it yet. So far, it just seems incredibly unsturdy and I’m hoping OP will let me know how she secured the wheels

I am also doing this in September! Do you have any suggestions for a seat belt that would still look nice? My 1 year old niece keeps trying to stand up.
